As we celebrate Pentecost, we are called to go into the world and spread the Good News! Take the leap of faith and join thousands of disciples across our region for a day of faith, family and fun – The FEST. The FEST is a spiritual retreat for the entire family. The day includes opportunities to strengthen your spirit — Confession, Adoration, and a beautiful outdoor Mass to end the day. Come and hear Jordan Feliz, Tenth Avenue North, Matt Maher, and Casting Crowns on Sunday, August 4th on the grounds of The Center for Pastoral Leadership. For more information, go to www.theFEST.us. Strengthen your spirit at The FEST!

After serving St. Malachi Parish and School for 150 years, the Ursuline Sisters have moved to their new home at the Mother House & House of Champions. This month (June 2019) marks the 4th Anniversary of Pope Francis’ Encyclical Laudato Si, On Care for Our Common Home. Here is a quote: “Concern for others and the natural environment attunes us to the moral imperative of assessing the impact of our every action and personal decision on the world around us… An awareness of the gravity of today’s cultural and ecological crisis must be translated into new habits. Small yet strong in the love of God, like St. Francis of Assisi, all of us Christians are called to watch over and protect the fragile world in which we live, and all it is peoples.”
The Detroit Superior Bridge Subway Tour will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2019. In conjunction with the event, St. Malachi Church will have an open house & tours from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM to welcome these visitors. We are looking for volunteers to help greet & talk with visitors. If you can volunteer for an hour or two, contact Kay Vine at 216-563-1993. It’s a great opportunity to meet our many neighbors
Here is an inspiring quote from Pope Francis to 400 journalists and to us!
“I urge you to work according to truth and justice, so that communication is truly an instrument for building, not for destroying; for meeting, not for clashing; for orienting, not for disorienting; for understanding, not for misunderstanding; for walking in peace, not for sowing hatred; for giving a voice to those who have no voice, not for being a megaphone to those who shout louder.”
He called on reporters to help the world remember those persecuted and discriminated against for their faith or ethnicity, and victims of violence and human trafficking. He said those forced to leave their homes because of disaster, war, terrorism, hunger or thirst, are not numbers, but a face, a story and a desire for happiness.
