Research shows that by age 13, girls struggle with self-image and self-esteem, online bullying, and loss of faith practice. Girls entering grades 6-10 this Fall are invited to a 6-week summer Walking with Purpose Bible Study that teaches girls that they are created as God’s beloved daughters, gifted and precious, and called to love and serve as the road to happiness. We will meet for 30-40 minutes weekly from early June to mid-July at St Patrick. Each girl will use a beautiful book for reading, writing, and prayer. For details, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oP6thB4yLoU. If interested, contact Stephanie Pritts at stephanie.p @stmalachi.org.

After spending 21 years in Jail Ministry, Fr. Neil accepted an assignment as Parish Administrator of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish effective July 1, 2021. Fr. Neil resided at St. Malachi for seven years during which time the parish benefited greatly from his presence. We pray that God will generously bless him as he starts this new chapter in his life. Information will follow regarding a farewell event for Fr. Neil.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus commands his disciples, whom he calls “friends,” to love one another as he loves them. Jesus uses the word “love” as a verb or a noun nine times. He also employs the word “command” or “commandment” five times. His command to love one another is explicit. Those who understand the depth of Christ’s love for us have reason to be joyful. We are called to be stewards of this loving friendship; to love one another as Jesus loves us. Do we give serious attention to what this love requires of us? What is the price of this friendship with the Lord? Are we willing to pay this price to keep Christ’s friendship?

2021 National Prayer for America
Lord, we look up and see the billions of stars
You created, and we praise You. We look
around and see the billions of people You
created in Your image; uniquely, fearfully,
wonderfully, and we thank You.
Wrap us in Your Spirit and unite us in Your family, Lord.
Thank You for loving us first. In Your love for the
whole world, You sent Your Son to save us.
Jesus, in You alone we have abundant and
everlasting life. Thank you for teaching and
leading us to love and live, fruitful, and faithful.
In Your life, death, resurrection, and ascension
You are our Lord, our love, our life, and our
liberty. You came to “bind up the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to captives and
freedom to prisoners.” You have freed us from
the penalty and shame of our sin; free to live
life as You designed and Your destiny
for our Nation.
Spirit search us, convict us, as we repent for
our sin and the sins of America. Please cleanse,
fill, and send us. We rejoice, knowing that Your
forgiveness makes us acceptable and effective
vessels for Your love, life and liberty in our
family, church, education, workplace, military,
government, art, entertainment, and media.
We pray that America will be united in love to
serve You with all our hearts, all our ways, and
all of our days. Unite us to pray, love; to live and
walk by the Spirit. Conform and transform us
as we pray and proclaim, “Now the Lord is the
Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is liberty.”
We pray this is the name of Jesus, Amen.

When Paul arrived in Jerusalem, the disciples were afraid of him, because they did not believe that he was a disciple. It took Barnabas to introduce him to the community vouching for Paul’s sincerity before the other disciples could trust him. As disciples we can build trust with each other helping to grow and bear fruit. We can help each other stay attached to Jesus, the vine, so that the sap of grace can flow freely to every part of the vine. That sap can help us to grow in patience, kindness, humility and love.
