November is a festive month with our traditions of All Saints, All Souls, the Feast of St. Malachy of Armagh, our Mass of Remembrance and the Solemnity of Christ the King. We need your help in creating a shrine to celebrate the communion of our own family saints who have gone before us. Bring a framed or loose photo of your loved ones with their name on the front, YOUR name and contact info affixed to the back. Any photo 8X10 or smaller will work. Bring it to church (large baskets provided at the front entrance). The shrines will be set up through the month of November and can be retrieved on or after November 26.
Come hear some absolutely WONDERFUL traditional Irish music to celebrate the Feast of St. Malachy of Armagh, our patron. Uillean piper and friend of the parish Brian Bigley will be joined by several other expert musicians in concert, Saturday November 4 at 7:30pm in the Church. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite (look for Cleveland Piper’s Weekend) and as a bonus, St. Malachi folks get a 50% discount with the promo code MALACHI. For more info call Charlene at the rectory or send an email to charlene.m@stmalachi.org. Tickets are also available at the door.

News headlines continue to highlight dire consequences related to abuse of alcohol and other drugs reminding us of the importance of the ongoing search for effective solutions. As parents or concerned loved ones, we often reflect on our personal struggles to either reduce the risk of our children or other family members from becoming victims or, in fact, to cope with an already existing substance abuse problem in the family. St. Malachi’s Samaritan Ministry invites you to a virtual program Abuse of Alcohol and Other Drugs: The Impact on the Family on Saturday, November 4th from 1:00 to 3:30PM via ZOOM to educate you and provide valuable resources in helping you to understand your role in trying to eliminate the consequences of America’s #1 public health problem. Topics to be covered include: Alcohol & Other Drugs: The Problem; What Families Should Know, Understanding What Alcohol & Other Drugs Can Do to the Brain, and Finding Helpful Resources.
The program is free, but we would appreciate donations to St Malachi’s Mother Teresa Ministry, which provides crucial aid during times of extreme need (rent; utilities; transportation) to keep individuals on the verge of homelessness from ending up on the street. You will be able to make a contribution when you register. Thank you in advance for your generosity! If you have questions, please contact Judy Stowe at 216-280-0675; judystowe @gmail.com OR call St. Malachi Rectory 216-861-5343.
