The In-Pew Catholic Charities Annual Appeal will be held on February 9 and 10, 2019. Your support of the 2019 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal will help us serve those individuals who are most in need and most vulnerable. What does it mean to Walk in Faith and Give in Joy? It means that we are to continue the work of Christ on earth; to show mercy to our brothers and sisters in need no matter their background or circumstances. When we do this with joy, we act as missionary disciples.
Please give generously to this year’s Appeal. Your gifts will change lives as they did for David, Marian, Shaye and Sharita who are featured in our new video. Hear their stories of transformation at www.CatholicCommun itiy.org/videos.
In today’s second reading, Saint Paul makes a list of gifts dispensed to members of the Christian community by the Holy Spirit. Each gift bestowed has a specific purpose for the person for whom it is intended: wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, mighty deeds, prophecy, discernment, tongues, & interpretation. Good stewards know these gifts are not meant to be kept hidden by the recipient but to be shared with the community and beyond. As we begin a new year, let us reflect on the gift the Holy Spirit has given to each of us. Do we recognize this gift? How was it intended that we use this gift? Are we being good stewards of this gift?
