Recent storms in Louisiana have caused the worst flooding since Hurricane Katrina across large areas of the state. Some 60,000 homes were damaged and 20,000 people were rescued from flooding. More than 106,000 individuals & families have sought federal disaster aid. Immediate & long-term recovery needs have prompted the U.S. Bishops to ask all the faithful to aid their neighbors in need.
Bishop Lennon established a special collection for Louisiana Flood Relief next weekend, September 17-18, 2016. Donations will support the humanitarian efforts of Catholic Charities USA & will help provide support to the Catholic dioceses impacted. Please make second collection contributions checks payable to St. Malachi with “2016 Louisiana flood collection” on the memo line.
