The Alzin family migrated to the United States from Syria in the summer of 2016 and St. Malachi provided some financial assistance, along with a small group of volunteers working with Catholic Charities who became their ‘mentors’ to adjust to life in the United States. The family has thrived here and are happy to report all are citizens of the United States. They are a wonderful loving family. The family has an immediate need for a washing machine and we are asking if anyone is looking to rehome one, or know of one that can be purchased for a reasonable cost, the family can arrange for pickup. In July of this past year, Mohammed Alzin’s parents and three sisters were also granted refugee status and are now all living in their modest rental home near 150th and Puritas. We are reaching out to ask if anyone knows of a rental property, apartment, or other housing that would be suitable for Mohammed’s parents and three sisters? If anyone can help, please contact Kevin at 321-506-4018 or kevin.b@stmalachi.org.

Catholic schools make a profound impact on a child’s life. You can help provide more opportunities for students to obtain a Catholic education. This weekend, a special parish appeal, Faith and Values Appeal for Education, will be held across the diocese to raise funds to help provide tuition assistance to needy students and their families right here in our diocese. Please be generous in your support of Catholic school students.

St. Malachi Parish asks that before you begin your vacations, travels and other summer plans, consider eGiving to ensure your support for our parish remains consistent even when you’re away. Your recurring gifts will not only sustain our parish throughout the summer months, but you will help our staff steward God’s resources well by reducing our costs for envelopes, paper and spending less staff time processing cash and checks, allowing more time for missions and ministries. Getting started with eGiving is easy. Here are the ways to sign up: Visit faith.direct/OH337; text ‘Enroll’ to 216-930-1310 or visit the St. Malachi website, www.stmalachi.org, and click on the donate button.
You’ll provide us with consistent support that helps us always be at the ready with programs, services, and ministries for our church families and for those in need throughout the community. Thank you

Thank you to our 57 parish donors who are making this year’s Annual Catholic Charities Appeal a success. With $16,130 pledged, our parish has reached 50% of our $32,146 goal (as of April 30). If you haven’t had an opportunity to make your pledge, it’s certainly not too late as a follow-up appeal will be offered at Mass the weekend of June 3-4. Please go to catholiccommunity.org for more information about the 2023 diocesan appeal.

The dignity of life in its earliest stages is threatened by a proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution to expand and enshrine abortion at the expense of existing protections for preborn children and women. As Catholics, we cannot remain on the sidelines when confronted with such a clear threat to human life. The Catholic Conference of Ohio has created a page on our website dedicated to resources to help Catholics unite in prayer and learn more about the proposed amendment and help defeat it. Visit www.ohiocathconf.org/protect to download a flyer and prayer card and learn more about how to take action.
Let Us Pray
God our loving Father,
grant wisdom to those who govern us,
compassion and courage
to those who work to defend human life,
and safety and care to every human being.
For you alone who formed us in our mothers’ wombs,
and who call us home to heaven,
are God, for ever and ever. Amen.
