Dear Parishioners,
While summer is rapidly moving along, St. Patrick Parish with St. Malachi Oratory has three opportunities to come together for prayer, food,
and fun!
On Thursday, August 14, I invite you to join us at Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine in Euclid for 7pm Rosary and the Vigil Mass of the Assumption at their outdoor grotto. It’s a beautiful place and a wonderful gift that we have here in Northeast Ohio. In the case of inclement weather, the shrine has an indoor chapel. An ice-cream social will follow for our parishioners and for the
others who will join us. I hope you can join us for this special night of pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady’s solemnity.
I am also pleased to announce that St. Patrick Parish with St. Malachi Oratory will have a combined Parish Picnic on Sunday, August 24 beginning with 10:30am Mass, on the St. Patrick Campus grounds.
We looked into having the picnic at an off-site location within our new parish territory, but logistics suggested that we have it on familiar ground this year. Although the grounds are familiar, for many, things will feel different as we create a new tradition together.
In order to really highlight this important gathering, we will combine the 10am and the 11am liturgies on the
24th. We will have the 8:30am Mass available for those who are not able to join us for the outdoor liturgy and
picnic at 10:30am.
While specific details will follow from our committee, including contact information for those who are able to help out, I want to make sure that everyone – including our neighbors in Ohio City and the Old Angle – know the date and time so we can all be there. Please be sure to mark your calendars!
Finally, looking ahead, please mark your calendar for a special Mass of Thanksgiving on Saturday, September 27 at 4:30pm with Bishop Malesic, as St. Patrick Parish with St. Malachi Oratory celebrates our new chapter together. We’re hoping to invite local clergy, community leaders, and friends of St. Pat and St. Malachi – old and new – to join us for this historical moment. A social will follow.
I thank our Events and Community Building Commission for their leadership in organizing these great events and I know they welcome anyone who would be available to assist. Stay tuned for more details!
Faithfully yours in Christ,
Fr. Gurnick
