There is not nearly enough room in the bulletin to thank ALL the wonderful people by name who gave of their presence, time and talent in preparation for our beautiful Holy Week services. On Good Friday afternoon alone there were at least 24 people who helped decorate for Easter, not to mention the ironing, rearranging furniture, risking life and limb on ladders and sacristy work for each celebration. There were millions of notes rehearsed, played and sung in lamentation, adoration, praise, and in joyful Alleluias (which will continue for 50 days)! Our readers proclaimed the Word with expressive clarity and our presiders lead us through each service with so much grace, joy and reverence. ALLELUIA! We are truly overcome with paschal joy! Thank you for making Holy Week so special for us at St. Malachi!
Thank You!
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Staff I thank you for the lovely Christmas cards, greetings, and delicious sweets sent to the rectory, Our gratitude accompanies prayerful best wishes for you and your loved ones throughout the New Year!

Alleluia! Give Thanks!
A heartfelt thank you to all who made our Holy Week celebrations prayerful and beautiful.
It always takes a village: our wonderful presiders and preachers, our art and environment teams, our sacristans, musicians and singers, proclaimers of the Word, greeters and ushers and ESPECIALLY the servers, namely Mike Pellegrino, Peter Toomey, and Joe Nagel (senior and junior) who stepped in at the last minute with exquisite grace! This is also a time to say good bye and thank you to Max Giorgi who was our splendid presider for Tenebrae this year. Max completes his internship this weekend with us here at St. Patrick and St. Malachi, and we wish him all the best!
Christmas Decorating Thank you!
We are grateful for our 2021 Christmas season environment set up and tear down volunteers:
Cathy, Bill and Will Graham; Chris, Mike and Susan Crawford; Carol and Marv Smith; Nora and Jay Owens, Dawn Tarka, Laura Fratus, Stan Kozak, Judy and Jim Slivka, Mike and Katie Pellegrino.
Also thank you to Janet Meany and Chris Dusek for keeping the flowers and greenery fresh throughout the season. Our seasonal decorations would not be possible without our dedicated volunteers! Thank you!
Thanks for the Prayers and Treats! July 2021
Many thanks to those who prayed for the grade 7-10 Girls Bible Study participants during the past 6 weeks. Eight girls completed “Discovering my Purpose.” The praying women arrived at the close of the Study—as a surprise—to show their support for the girls and their moms. Also, many thanks to the parish boys who made delicious treats (!) for the girls to enjoy at the start of each session. As a sign of her delight, one girl asked as she munched on a treat made by an unnamed boy, “Do these boys do home deliveries?” God is good, all the time!
Thank You Fruit Basket Volunteers!
Last Sunday/Monday volunteers from St. Malachi Parish delivered fruit baskets to residents of Lakeview Tower Apartments. This unique St Malachi tradition has been an annual event for about 50 years and continues to be a worthwhile effort. Many thanks to the volunteers who came to personally knock on our neighbors’ doors, wish them Merry Christmas from St. Malachi and give them food for body and soul. Your participation is a Christmas blessing from St. Malachi’s to the community where we serve.
Thank You to Mask Makers!
We send our thanks to Nadge Herceg and Cathy Jacob for their time and love in sewing and donating face masks to St. Malachi. We expect to wear masks for at least 12-18 months, and will make good use of these artistic masks. Thank you so much!
Thank You Street Festival Volunteers!
A big thank you to the folks who greeted festival goers at the St. Malachi table at the Ohio City Street Festival last Sunday, September 29, 2019. You were a welcoming presence in our neighborhood!
Men’s Spiritual Retreat Gathering, Thank You!
Thank you to all the St. Malachi folks who remembered us in prayer & good thoughts during the Men’s Spring Retreat. 22 wonderful men gathered at Our Ladies of the Pines Retreat Center. It was a wonderful retreat. We dealt with the topic “Friendship: Its Many Faces and Phases.” During the retreat we had a “Table of Remembrance” dedicated to all the men who, at one time, were involved with the men’s retreat & are now gone. Men like Al Francis, Frank Schiros, Steve McConville, Bill Jacob, Rick Crow, Paul Kunkel, Luis Gutierrez, Tony DiNardo and Dennis Stramel. We have their pictures & tell their stories so they are never forgotten. It’s a special time during the retreat as tears flow for them.
