A Prayer For Veterans Day

by

God of mercy we ask for blessings on all those who have served their country in the armed forces. We ask for healing for the veterans who have been wounded, in body and soul, in conflicts around the globe. We pray especially for the young men and women, in the thousands, who are coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan with injured bodies and traumatized spirits. Bring solace to them, O Lord. May we pray for them when they cannot pray. Have mercy on all our veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Bring peace to their hearts and peace to the regions they fought in. Bless all the soldiers who served in noncombative posts. May their calling to serve continue in their lives in many positive ways. Give us all here present today creative vision to see a world that, growing weary with fighting, moves to affirming the life of every human being and so moves beyond war. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. Jesus, I trust in You!

 

RCIA: Enter into the Mystery of the Catholic Faith

RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, provides a way for adults and children over age seven, who experience God’s call, to enter fully into the Catholic Church. Included are unbaptized (catechumens), Christians baptized in another denomination (candidates for full communion), and baptized Catholics who desire full initiation through reception of Eucharist and/or Confirmation. Through the RCIA, fully initiated Catholics journey with those preparing for full initiation. The Catholic way embraces a daily call to conversion of mind and heart through and with Jesus. Formation begins Tuesday Sep 27th at 7PM at St. Patrick’s Club. To join us, contact Stephanie Pritts at stephanie.p@stmalachi.org.

Prayer for Memorial Day , 2022

God of power and mercy,
you destroy war and put down earthly pride.
Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears,
that we may all deserve to be called your sons
and daughters.
Keep in your mercy those men and women
who have died in the cause of freedom
and bring them safely
into your kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this though Jesus Christ our Lord.  R/. Amen

Almighty and eternal God, You blessed the union of married couples so that they might reflect the union of Christ with his Church: look with kindness on them. Renew their marriage covenant, increase your love in them, and strengthen their bond of peace so that, with their children, they may always rejoice in the gift of your blessing. Prayer for Catholic Schools Week

Almighty Father,

You sent forth your Son as a beacon of hope for all people. As Teacher, he has given us the prime example of the importance of education.
As disciples, we look to him for inspiration and strength. Thank you for the many sisters, brothers, priests, and laypeople who have dedicated their lives in service to our Catholic schools.
Thank you for the teachers and administrators who sustain our schools today.
Thank you for the parents who have given support and witness to the importance of Catholic education in their daily lives.
Thank you for the students who work hard to further their education. Bless Metro Catholic, staff & students and the many people who advance our mission.
May our building be a home for those who seek to grow in faith, knowledge, and service of others. May our community always support one another and exhibit hospitality to newcomers.

Fill our minds with knowledge and wisdom.
May our understanding of the world help us to grow in appreciation for it.

Fill our hearts with gladness.
May we always turn to you in times of need.

Fill our hands with the tools we need to serve others.
May we show them your unceasing love through our actions.

Prayer for the Unborn

Heavenly Father, in Your love for us, protect against the wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones to whom You have given the gift of life.
Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant in our world today who are not thinking of motherhood.
Help them to see that the child they carry is made in Your image – as well as theirs – made for eternal life.
Dispel their fear and selfishness and give them true womanly hearts to love their babies and give them birth and all the needed care that a mother can give.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever.  Amen.

Lord God, illumine our path by the light of Christ who moves us and leads us.

Guide us to discover a small manger in our hearts where a great light still sleeps.

Creator of light, we thank you for the gift of that unfading Star, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Heal our divisions and draw us closer to the Light that we may find our unity in him. Amen.

Taize Prayer in Honor if Mary, Our Mother – 12/8/2021

Come experience the beauty, stillness and joy of praying in the style of Taizé. This prayer style is characterized by repeated “song prayers”, candlelight, a reading or two, intercessory prayer and deep silence. This month we celebrate Advent and honor Mary, our mother, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Plan to come this Wednesday evening, December 8 at 7:00 PM. Enter through either side door.
