“The starting point of the Christian life is not our worthiness…Whenever we consider ourselves smarter or better than others, that is the beginning of the end. The Lord does not work miracles with those who consider themselves righteous, but with those who know themselves to be needy…Both [Peter and Paul] understood that holiness does not consist in exalting, but rather in humbling oneself. Holiness is not a contest, but a question of entrusting our own poverty each day to the Lord, who does great things for those who are lowly…What was the secret that made them persevere amid their weakness? It was the Lord’s forgiveness…In their failings, they encountered the powerful mercy of the Lord, who gave them rebirth. In his forgiveness, they encountered irrepressible peace and joy.”

To my beloved brothers and sisters of St. Malachi:
I am deeply grateful for the celebration of my 45 years at St. Malachi Parish. You are a great people of faith, generosity and goodness. I am deeply grateful for your presence and for your gifts and cards. I am still savoring the moments of the Celebration. May we continue to pray for each other during these challenging and difficult days. I love you all very much and there is nothing you can do about it.

“God, who calls us to generous commitment and to give him our all, offers us the light and the strength needed to continue on our way. In the heart of this world, the Lord of life, who loves us so much is always present. He does not abandon us, he does not leave us alone, for he has united himself definitively to our earth, and his love constantly impels us to find new ways forward. Praise be to him!” (245)

During the summer months, the population we serve increases, however because schools are closed & people go on vacation, our food & supplies dwindle. Your donations would be greatly appreciated so that we can continue providing wholesome meals to our guests. The Back Door is in need of the following: coffee, hot chocolate, sugar, cream, cold & hot cereal, cheese, onions, potatoes, eggs, butter, oil, seasonings, ham, turkey, chicken, ground beef & tuna.
Please bring your donations to the rectory between 8:30AM-2PM on weekdays, 9:30AM-2PM on Saturday & 8:30AM-Noon on Sunday.
