Good news! the plumbing and drainage problems in the hall which have afflicted us for the past six weeks have been resolved!
After repeated snaking, cleaning out, camera inspections, installing drain-cleanouts, finding & replacing a collapsed drain pipe, working with City street, water and pollution control (sewers) departments, city workers excavated on Washington to insure our drain pipes were open & connected into the sewer system on Main Ave.
With a thorough cleaning of the hall, the Monday Night Meal, Metanoia Project and Saturday Breakfast are once again able to function normally. We are anticipating a professional cleaning and sanitizing of the kitchen and hall.
A portion of the costs should be covered by our diocesan insurance. At this time, our total costs are unknown. Needless to say, these expenses were not anticipated in the annual budget.
Steve Gresham, our custodian & maintenance head deserves great credit, thanks and appreciation for his expertise, great persistence, patience, networking skills & hard work over these weeks “working the problem” to reach a successful solution.
Special commendations also go to the Monday Night Meal leadership, especially Patrick Dowd, Martin O’Donnell, Frank Herceg, and the rest of the MNM leadership team, for their work to enable Monday Night Meal to be served most weeks during these weeks!
