Endangered Catholics? Maybe. Endangered Parishes – yes!
On Wednesday, The Plain Dealer reported that the group “Endangered Catholics” is calling for an immediate, diocesan-wide boycott of collections, withholding “any further financial contributions to any Roman Catholic Church until Bishop Richard Lennon agrees to mediation with each parish protesting its closing.” This is a tactic to leverage withholding contributions into negotiating power. Following months of hard work and dedication by over 100 volunteers, the new St. Malachi Parish opened its doors to the members so grateful that their Church was not closed down.
