2008 CATHOLIC CHARITIES ANNUAL APPEAL
Please take time to read the tabloid about the 2008 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal included with today's bulletin. Next weekend, February 16-17, is the in-pew commitment process. Every household will be asked to consider making a pledge to support the ministries and services provided by
Catholic
Charities. This is not a “special collection.” Each of us is encouraged to consider a pledge of support that will be billed over several months.
Many people have already received the Catholic Charities appeal in the mail. If you have, please respond. Next weekend, those who have already responded will be able to check the box on the envelope that you receive to indicate that you have already responded by mail.
The theme of this year's Appeal is “Listen to Him.” Each of us is invited to listen to what Christ has taught us about helping those in need. Let us reflect on the gifts God has given to each of us…“all that we are and all that we have.” Based upon these reflections, determine how much you will return in gratitude for the gifts you have received. Please pray for the success of this important Appeal.

St. Malachi
Center, such as: Seeds of Literacy, computer classes, After- school program, Your Next Step, clothing ministry, Family Activity Night, Homework Help for Teens, Soup and God, the shower program, and more.
SPECIAL SPEAKER
The Community of St. Malachi will sponsor a presentation by Thomas P. Doyle OP on
“Sexual Abuse in the Church - Where do we go from here?” at 7:30 PM Friday, March 7 in St. Malachi Hall. Fr. Doyle is a Dominican priest and an internationally recognized expert in the Canonical and pastoral dimensions of the problem of sexual abuse in the Church. He became involved with the issue while serving at the Vatican Embassy in 1984 and since has become an outspoken advocate for abuse victims. MEN'S BREAKFAST

Sisters of Notre Dame Prayer Line
The Sisters of Norte Dame have a Prayer Line Ministry. They dedicate time each day to receive calls and pray for your intentions. The Sisters will receive your calls from 10 AM-4 PM on Monday-Friday.
During weekends and holidays you may leave your requests on their answering service. These requests will also be remembered in prayer. The sisters in Assisted Living look forward to praying for you needs and requests.

Update
of the Cluster Planning Committee
Community of St. Malachi

Since our last update, the Cluster Planning Committee
met at St. Patrick’s on January 16, 2008. At this meeting,
the committee examined the financial picture of each of the parishes,
completing its review of the parishes’ key information. Each
parish presented a financial report to the committee. There was
healthy discussion about each parish’s financial condition, followed by
questions and answers.
The committee also established a subcommittee for the
purpose of looking at possible shared services and activities among our
cluster partners. The members of the subcommittee are Sheila Berry
(St. Malachi Parish), Christine Piatek (
St.
Wendelin), Marge Thomas (St. Patrick), and Kay Vine (Community of St.
Malachi). Last week, you saw the beginning of their efforts as each
parish published the schedule of Lenten services at the other parishes.
Having completed its review of the parishes’ key
information, the committee will now turn its efforts to discerning the
challenges our cluster will face and how to deal with them so that the
Church can continue to minister on the Near West Side.
