Soup for the Soul
Please join us at our annual Soup for the Soul fundraiser on Thursday March 13, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on St. Clair in downtown Cleveland. Our goal is to raise $60,000 this year to help us help others - like children in our After School Program, young families in our Partners for Progress program, and the homeless in our Shower Program. This year promises to be the best yet with over 20 restaurants donating their favorite and most scrumptious soup. Other features that will make this the best event ever are appealing appetizers, sensational celebrity servers, amazing auctions, rousing raffles and YOU! Besides ticket registration, we have three other ways you can participate: We have corporate sponsorships still available. Join other generous Cleveland area businesses in supporting our event. The earlier the commitment, the earlier we can put your company logo on all our material so others can know you too are a part of this worthy cause and celebration. We are selling ads in our program. For a limited time, you can support our efforts and buy an ad for as little as $50. We are looking for auction and raffle items of distinction to help make Soup for the Soul 2008 an experience to remember. You can register for tickets or learn more about any of these opportunities by going to our website: www.stmalachicenter.org or calling Ginny Suhr at 216-771-3036.

Prayer for Vocations

Compassionate God, You speak your word to us through prophets of long ago and continue to reveal your message of love today. With great expectation we look to your Spirit to work in our world, empowering us to serve you as Jesus did.
May we listen for your word and respond generously to your call. Renew in us thy grace of our baptism. Strengthen married couples, single men and women, deacons, priests, sisters, and brothers as they seek to serve you by sharing their love and compassion. Grant wisdom to those who are discerning their call. With gratitude we proclaim the Good News of Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

National Vocation Awareness Week begins with the feast of the Baptism of the Lord. We are invited to renew our baptismal commitment and to pray for a strengthening of all vocations.

NATIONAL HUMAN TRAFFICKING AWARENESS DAY: JANUARY 11
Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery. Victims of human trafficking are young children, teenagers, men, & women. Approximately 600,000--800,000 victims annually are trafficked across international borders world wide; between 14,500--17,500 of those victims are trafficked into the U.S., according to the U.S. Department of State. Victims of human trafficking are subjected to force, fraud, or coercion, for purpose of sexual exploitation or forced labor. After drug dealing, trafficking of humans is tied with arms dealing as the second largest criminal industry in the world, and is the fastest growing.” Join the Sisters of Saint Joseph in prayer to end Human Trafficking at their 11 AM Liturgy, on Friday, January 11 at the St. Joseph Center Worship Space, 3430 Rocky River Dr.

And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was. They were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. - Mt 2:9-11
