CHURCH DECORATING THIS SUNDAY
On Sunday, we will complete our decorating of the church for Christmas after 12:30 Mass. Help is needed to put up wreaths & poinsettias for the Christmas season. The more folks we have, the sooner we can leave for our many other holiday traditions & celebrations. Small GOLD ornament (paper, plastic, glittered, handmade) will be placed on our smaller trees. Make or bring a ready-made GOLD ornament to add to the tree. The wreaths on the church pillars are again being decorated by Christian Formation & St. Malachi Center students.

PEACE WALK
There will be a Peace Walk from St. Malachi to Public Square this Wednesday, December 26. Please meet in the church parking lot at 7:15 PM

MUSICAL CELEBRATION AT ST MALACHI
Next Saturday, December 29, Bryan Kennard and Friends will offer a music celebration in church at 7 PM in honor of the Feast of the Holy Family. All are invited!

ADVENT SOCIAL ACTION COLLECTION
Social Action invites the Parish & Community to join in a Christmas giving effort to support the men's clothing ministry & St. Malachi Center. The Christmas creche has paper tags with a clothing item on it. Take a tag & purchase the item. Wrap the gift & fix the tag to the top of the gift. Return the gift to the creche by next Sunday, December 23; gifts will be distributed on December 24. You can take 2 or more tags if you want to make this a family Christmas project. SPECIAL YEAR-END GIVING OPPORTUNITY
Between now & December 31, 2007, taxpayers over age 70 1/2 can avoid paying income tax on IRA distributions of up to $100,000 by donating them directly from tax-deferred IRAs to qualified charitable organizations (such as a church or other tax exempt organizations such as St. Malachi Center or Malachi House). What this could mean: if your required minimum distribution is $10,000 and you are in the 15% tax bracket, you could donate the $10,000 directly to the church or charity and NOT pay $1,500 in federal income tax. Please note that amounts excluded from income under this provision cannot be taken into account in determining the charitable contribution deduction. Please consult your financial advisor for details.

Behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." - Mt 1:20-21
