BLANKET SUNDAY COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND
The 21st Annual St. Vincent de Paul “Blanket Sunday Collection” will be next weekend, October 13 - 14. We are collecting new or like-new blankets, sheets & towels -- most of which will be distributed to people in our area, as St. Malachi is a distribution site. If you wish to make a cash contribution ($5 can buy a blanket at wholesale prices!), please find envelopes at the doors of the church. All donations will be sent to the “Blanket Sunday” program of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Thanks for your support!

CHRISTIAN FOUNDATION FOR CHILDREN AND AGING 
Next weekend, St. Malachi welcomes Fr. Martin, who will preach at all the Masses. He will present the work of the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, which offers the opportunity to sponsor a needy child or aged adult in 25 countries in the developing world. There is no special collection; sponsorship information will be available. 

BETHLEHEM CHRISTIAN FAMILIESSupport Bethlehem Christian Families by purchasing their beautiful wood carvings.
On October 13-14, Bethlehem Christian Families will again be at St. Malachi after all the Masses offering hand-carved olive wood products for sale including crucifixes, rosaries, Nativity scenes, Christmas ornaments, figurines. BEING THE PEOPLE OF GOD SPEAKER SERIES 
Being the People of God is a speaker series about ministry and answering the Baptismal Call. The next presentation will be on Tuesday, October 23, “To Whom Shall We Go Today to be Nourished and Strengthened for the Mission Entrusted to Us as Baptized Adults?” by Conrad Gramada, Ph.D. of Ursuline College. The evening starts at 7 PM in St. Malachi Hall. On the Sunday, October 28,  there will be discussion at Coffee Hour after 9:30 AM & 11:00 AM Mass about the information we receive, how it applies to us, and what we can do. WEDNESDAY PRAYER: TAIZÉ
Please join us at 6:00 pm in church on Wednesday October 10 for Taizé Prayer. Taizé Prayer is a quiet, simple way of prayer designed for people of all Christian traditions. This meditative, candlelit service includes simple chants sung repeatedly, rich silence & prayers of praise & intercession.

CHRISTMAS CHOIR
Come one come all and join your voices in glorious song for our annual Christmas Choir! We begin rehearsals on Thursday, October 25, at 8 PM in church. Our major event is the Christmas Eve 10:00 PM Liturgy. All are welcome!

BRIDGES TO CONTEMPLATION
  Bridges uses Thomas Merton's writings as a starting point of discussion with another contemporary writer. The group is given time for silence and contemplation to identify what the writings mean to them.

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT MEETING 
There is a Spiritual Development Meeting in the School Hall on Tuesday, October 23 at a special time - 5:30. Come for the meeting, stay for the speaker! Anyone interested in working on the committee are welcome!

COMMISSION ON CATHOLIC COMMUNITY ACTION
The Spiritual Development Committee has reserved a table for the Commission on Catholic Community Action Awards Dinner on Saturday October 27. SOUP FOR THE SOUL 2008 
The St. Malachi Center 2008 “Soup for the Soul” Benefit is set for Thursday, March 13. The first volunteer meeting for “Soup for the Soul” will be Thursday, October 18, at 6:30 pm in St. Malachi Center. Please bring your God-given talents and a friend! All are welcome. FUTURECHURCH ANNUAL BENEFIT
Sr. Elizabeth Johnson CSJ, Distinguished Professor of Theology at Fordham University, will address “Quest for the Living God” at the 17th Annual FutureChurch Benefit on Thursday, October 18, at Windows on the Rivers. Sisters of Notre Dame Prayer Line 
The Sisters of Norte Dame have a Prayer Line Ministry. They dedicate time each day to receive calls and pray for your intentions. The Sisters will receive your calls from 10 AM-4 PM on Monday-Friday. During weekends and holidays you may leave your requests on their answering service. These requests will also be remembered in prayer. The sisters in Assisted Living look forward to praying for your needs and requests.
