ANNUAL MISSION APPEAL
Next weekend, St. Malachi welcomes Fr. Bernard Okafor from the Diocese of Okigwe, Nigera for our annual mission appeal. He will preach at the Masses. There will be a second collection for the missions at all the Masses.

INDEPENDENCE DAY MASS
Mass this Wednesday, July 4, is at 9 AM. Our morning Mass provides us with a special opportunity to thank God for our freedom and the many blessings our country enjoys, as well as an opportunity to pray for our country, especially in this time of war.

NO WEDNESDAY PRAYER GROUPS THIS WEEK
Please note that neither Wednesday morning “Let Us Pray” Women's Prayer Group nor the Wednesday evening prayer group will meet this Wednesday, July 4. Both will resume next Wednesday, July 11. The Wednesday evening prayer on July 11 at 5:30 PM is Taize' Prayer. All are welcome. 

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT PLANNING MEETING
The Spiritual Development Committee invites you to attend our planning meeting for the coming year on Saturday, July 7, from 10 AM to noon at St. Malachi Center. The focus for this year's program is to deepen our understanding of and response to our Baptismal call. 

LITURGY PLANNING MEETING
There will be a meeting to plan for the coming liturgical year on Saturday, July 21, from 5:30-8:30 PM at the home of Gary and Stephanie Pritts, 1568 Northland Ave. Lakewood. Dinner will be potluck; please plan to bring salad bar items, rolls or a dessert. For more information, please contact Charlene McElwee, our Liturgical/Music minister at the rectory.

VOLUNTEER READING BUDDIES NEEDED

GOD IN HIS CITY-VACATION BIBLE FUN
St. Colman's Church is presenting God in His City: Family Vacation Bible Fun from July 9 through July 13, from 9:30 AM - 12 Noon. This is for children from 5 to 12 years old. Sisters of Notre Dame Prayer Line
The Sisters of Norte Dame have a Prayer Line Ministry. They dedicate time each day to receive calls and pray for your intentions. The Sisters will receive your calls from 10 AM-4 PM on Monday-Friday. During weekends and holidays you may leave your requests on their answering service. These requests will also be remembered in prayer. The sisters in Assisted Living look forward to praying for your needs and requests.

ENERGY CONSERVATION & EFFICIENCY:
FIRST STEPS

  1. Conduct a Personal Energy Audit:
    Audit current energy use, expenses, equipment and habits.
    Establish goals, priorities and timelines.
    Evaluate success, adjust and move On.

  2. Appliances and Computers:
    Turn computers off whenever possible.
    Beware of phantom loads. Unplug unused appliances, computers, chargers and “Wall-Warts” or use switched power-strips.
    When possible, use microwaves instead of stoves.
    If you use a dryer, consider recapturing the heat.
    Line dry clothes whenever possible.

  3. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, In This Order:
    Reduce what you use. 
    Reuse what you can.
    Recycle everything possible.

  4. Curtail Unwanted Mail and Junk-Mail:
    Share, use libraries or consider on-line publications.

  5. Purchasing Habits:
    Avoid over packaging.
    Demand efficiency in all the products you buy.
    Buy less, share, donate or re-gift unused items.
    Demand & purchase energy from renewable sources.

    Buy locally produced products.
    Buy produce in season when possible.
    Consider the whole life cycle of products.
