HOME MISSIONS APPEAL
There will be a second collection this weekend for the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. This appeal supports missions here in the United States. There are many places in America where the Catholic Church struggles just to keep parishes open and to educate children in the faith. Some dioceses are terribly short of priests, sisters and the resources needed to run parishes. Please plan to give generously to assist fellow Catholics in America.

CELEBRATION OF SERVICEwhatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me
This coming Saturday, April 28, at noon in the hall St. Malachi will honor all who volunteer and minister at St. Malachi. Sponsored by the St. Malachi staff, this event recognizes the immense contribution of time and talent contributed by a great many people to the liturgical, pastoral and outreach ministry of our church. Even a partial list of the ways people give of themselves is impressive: as lectors, Eucharistic ministers, cantors, musicians, choir members, sacristans, church cleaners & decorators, Back Door Ministry, Backdoor Brunch & Monday Night Meal cooks & volunteers, snow shovelers, groundskeepers & gardeners, religious education teachers & aides, collection counters, phone answerers, office helpers, Newsletter/Communio, flyer & program booklet creators, copiers & collators, Pastoral Council, Finance Council & Committee/Commission members. St. Paul reminds us, “there are many gifts, but the same spirit.” (1 Cor. 12: 4), and our annual “Celebration of Service” honors the many people and the diverse gifts each contribute to the Gospel. If you are one of these people, PLEASE COME! For more information, call the rectory (216) 861-5343.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
Bishop Roger Gries OSB will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation this Tuesday, April 24 at 7 PM at St. Malachi Church for St. Malachi, St. Patrick, St. Wendelin and Urban Community School. Let us pray for all who will be confirmed, that they may be empowered with the gifts and grace of the Holy Spirit to give faithful witness to Christ by their lives.

PARISH COUNCIL OPENINGS
Parish Council represents the people of St. Malachi; it is the most important consultative group in the parish. This coming year, as clustering begins, Parish Council will be even more important. There are several openings for the coming year. If you are interested in serving or need more information, contact Michael French, (216) 731-9898.

In 1968 Jean Vanier, a former philosophy teacher at St. Michael's University in Toronto, was invited by the Bishop of Toronto to give a retreat for priests. At the time, Jean Vaner was living in France where he had founded the L'Arche Community. Jean Vanier agreed to give the retreat, but insisted that it not be solely a retreat for priests. he asked that it be open to all people: rich and poor, young and old, married and single. He wanted a variety of abilities present. Jean Vanier believed in creating a community in retreat by inviting people to share from their hearts. And so, Faith and Sharing was born. In 1969, Father Jim O'Donnell went to Canada to make the second Faith and Sharing Retreat. Fr, Jim said this retreat change his life and is the reason he now lives among the poor.

Jesus said to them, “Come, have breakfast.” And none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?” because they realized it was the Lord. Jesus came over and took the bread and gave it to them, and in like manner the fish. - Jn 21:12-13
