Offertory Report

EASTER SUNDAY Thank you for the Easter Vigil/Easter Sunday collection of $6,191. Despite the heavy snow, many people made the trip to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord at St. Malachi.
What a beautiful witness of Easter faith!

Please Pray for the Deceased: Sr. Marilyn J. Scott OSU, James Calkins
Also for the Sick: Magdalena Fortunova, Theresa Lowe, Peter Hamm Jr., Judy Lavelle, Michelle Speck

HOME MISSIONS APPEAL
There will be a second collection next week for the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. This appeal supports missions here in the United States. There are many places in America where the Catholic Church struggles just to keep parishes open and to educate children in the faith. Some dioceses are terribly short of priests, sisters and the resources needed to run parishes. Please plan to give generously to assist fellow Catholics in America.

VOL. 37, NO. 19

Special Thanks to the many people whose gifts made our Holy Week celebrations so beautiful.

Marie James baked the loaves of bread used at Eucharist on Holy Thursday. Gary Pritts Sr., Stephanie Pritts, and Alex Gutierrez created the shadow box used for the Good Friday Stations of the Cross; Gary Pritts, Jr, Mike Andreani and Ellen Brinich helped us pray the Stations with their reverent presentation. Our booklets were printed and put together by Kimberly Tatro and Martin Chovanec. Many thanks to the readers, servers, Eucharistic Ministers and musicians and cantors, many of whom had to be recruited at the last minute due to the weather! Special thanks to Kay Vine and her able crew of decorators who never fail to make our church so beautiful.

A SPECIAL GIFT, A SPECIAL GIVING OPPORTUNITY
Recently, St. Malachi received a special gift of $10,000 from someone who asked to remain anonymous. We are most grateful for this special gift & the support it offers for our church's ministry. What is also significant is the giving opportunity it reflects. Between now & December 31, 2007, taxpayers over age 70 1/2 can avoid paying income taxes on cash donations up to $100,000 when paying them directly from tax-deferred IRAs to qualified charitable organizations (such as the church or church-sponsored charities, such as St. Malachi Center, Malachi House, Urban Community School, Westside Catholic Center, Catholic Charities). Our St. Malachi donor was required to withdraw a certain amount from an IRA this year & chose to make a special donation to St. Malachi.

NAIL CROSSES
You are welcome to bring your nail cross to church any time during this Easter season & place it on the large cross.
