MENTORS NEEDED, ESPECIALLY MEN!
“Your Next Step” is a mentoring program at St. Malachi Center designed to help young adults, 16-22, identify, design & implement the “next step” of their lives. The program is held every Tuesday from 6-8 PM. Each mentor teams with 1-3 youth; training for mentors is provided. The program is designed for women to mentor young women and men to mentor young men. At present, there are more young men interested in the program than men to serve as their mentors. Can you help? Call Lynn Scott at the Center (216) 771-3036 or email her at
st_malachi@ameritech.net
GIVE THE GIFT OF READING
Everyone knows learning to read is vital to a successful adulthood, but did you know that 31% of adults in Greater Cleveland operate at Level One literacy, which means they can't read a simple story to a child? It's no coincidence that 32% of Clevelanders live in poverty, making Cleveland the poorest big city in the country. You can make a difference in the life of a child or an adult by becoming a volunteer tutor. Call
Cleveland Reads' Literacy Hotline: (216) 436-2222 for information on free training and programs that would welcome your services.
BETHLEHEM CHRISTIAN FAMILIES
Once again, representatives of the Bethlehem Christian Families will be visiting St. Malachi Church with their
hand carved olivewood statues, crosses and religious items the weekend of October 21-22 after all the Masses. Your purchase of their work helps them support their families and maintain a Christian presence in the Holy Land.
“PRAYING WITH ST IGNATIUS OF LOYOLA” RETREAT
The “Praying with St. Ignatius of Loyola” retreat is in progress. Please keep Fr. Clem Metzger, the facilitators, and the other retreatants in your prayers!
