Fr. Jim O'Donnell
Golden Jubilee
This Sunday, all of St. Malachi rejoices with Fr. James P. O'Donnell as he celebrates his 50th ordination anniversary!
Fr. O'Donnell was ordained a priest on May 19, 1956. His priestly ministry has been rich and varied throughout the past 50 years: serving in parishes, as Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Director, in his Central City Ministry, in ministry to the Incarcerated at the Women's Pre-Release Center and the Juvenile Detention Center, Jesus Caritas, Faith and Sharing, L'Arche, the Little Brothers and Sisters of the Eucharist. He has been a friend, spiritual father, director, mentor, and guide to many, especially the forgotten and abandoned “little ones.” For the past 30+ years, we have been blessed with his presence and his ministry at St. Malachi. Together, we give thanks and praise to God and prayerfully wish Fr. Jim God's continued blessings “Ad multos annos!” (many more years!).
All are most welcome to the Jubilee Mass at 2:30 PM, followed by a reception in the hall.

VIBRANT PARISH LIFE - PHASE II UPDATE
St. Malachi Parish has begun our efforts to implement Phase II of
Vibrant Parish
Life. We have formed a Leadership Team to guide us through the process: Michael French (Parish Council Chair), Sue Brooks, Arlene Corrigan, Greg Gacka, William Graham, Andy McLinden, Carolyn Meyer, Kevin O'Donnell, Mary Jane Treichel, Fr. Tony. The Leadership Team has two main responsibilities:
-
1) to guide an ongoing education process, so everyone understands the current realities, the Vibrant Parish Life process and its meaning for St. Malachi and our whole diocese;
-
2) to guide St. Malachi by October 1 in proposing and choosing other parishes for our cluster.
There will be regular updates as we go forward and the people of St. Malachi will be fully involved in this process. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any member of the Leadership Team. If you have not read An Introduction to Vibrant Parish Life - Phase II, pick up a copy at the main entrance of the church. The key question of
Vibrant Parish Life is “Where is the Spirit leading us?” Please keep the Leadership Team and the
Vibrant Parish Life process in your prayers.
