NEW BISHOP APPOINTED
Last Tuesday, April 4, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Bishop Richard Lennon to become the 10th Bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland. Bishop Lennon has been serving as Auxiliary Bishop & Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Boston. Bishop Pilla continues as the Bishop of Cleveland until Bishop Lennon is installed on May 15, when Bishop Pilla will formally retire. During this transition time, let us pray in thanksgiving for Bishop Pilla's ministry and for God's blessing on Bishop Lennon.
Prayer for the Church in Transition
O Faithful God,
As your people, we cherish our memories and our
history as a sacred gift. We also ask you to guide us
in our time of transition.
We need your wisdom that we might be receptive to
change, conversion, and growth.
We need your grace to redirect our hearts that we
may be willing to offer ourselves in joyful service.
Do not allow fear, ignorance or pride to limit the
work of your spirit, nor custom to prevent the
creativity within us from bearing fruit.
Open our hearts to the call of the Gospel. Give us
courage and renewed hope that we may meet the
challenge of being the church of our time.
Amen

VIBRANT PARISH LIFE - PHASE II
After Easter, we will form a Leadership Team to help guide St. Malachi through Vibrant Parish Life - Phase II. The team is responsible for planning education & for leading a process between now & October 1 to propose parishes St. Malachi is interested in forming a cluster with. If you are interested in this leadership team, contact Fr. Tony or Parish Council President Michael French [(216) 731-9898 or
michaelkfrench@yahoo.com]. Pray for the Holy Spirit's guidance for this process & for the Spirit to lead the church to more vibrant Catholic life & ministry. If you have not read An Introduction to Vibrant Parish Life - Phase II, pick up a copy at the main entrance of the church.
LENTEN APPEAL
This year, you are invited to support the De La Salle School in
Bethlehem. This Christian School serves 600 students, boys & girls, Christian & Muslim, pre-school through high school. Fr. Tony visited the school last fall during his retreat in the Holy Land; it reminded him of Urban Community School. The school is a sign of hope in this troubled land. There is a two-track religion program (Christian and Muslim). The school teaches non-violence & peace; they discuss each violent incident. About 90% of the graduates attend college. Tuition is about a dollar a day (i.e. $365); the annual cost per student is $700 a year. Because unemployment in Bethlehem is currently 50%, the school operates at a deficit. During Lent, you are invited to make a daily Lenten sacrifice and put the money aside. Envelopes marked St. Malachi Benefit Fund are available at the church doors; please make check payable to St. Malachi Benefit
Fund. All donations will go to De La Salle School.
THE TRIDUUM: ENCOUNTER, EXPERIENCE, LIVE!
This Sunday at 2 PM, our seminarian Ed Suszynski, Jr. will offer a reflection in preparation for the Triduum in church. All are invited to attend this day of reflection & prayer to prepare for this holiest week of the Church year.
