We recently received a letter from Bishop Anthony Pilla, Bishop of Cleveland and J. Thomas Mullen, President, Catholic Charities. These are excerpts from that letter…
And Jesus answered their question about the greatest commandment in the Law by saying, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind… and the second greatest commandment is…”Love your neighbor as yourself”. (Matt 22:36-40) Once again-you- the good people of the Diocese of Cleveland have responded to the Word. After Hurricane Katrina caused devastating property damage and untold suffering to our neighbors on the Gulf Coast, you have responded with generous offers of aid and comfort. It is with deepest gratitude that we disclose to you that Catholic Charities USA reports that the parishes here in the Diocese of Cleveland have contributed $969,000 to Hurricane Katrina Relief. In addition, individuals from the Diocese donated $100,000 directly to Catholic Charities USA for a diocesan total of $1,069,000. Your love is overwhelming!
As the recovery effort continues, anyone wishing to continue support can donate to: Catholic Charities USA, 2005 Hurricane Relief Fund, PO Box 25168, Alexandria, VA 22313-9788
