BISHOP PILLA'S STATEMENT ON THE ROLE OF THE CHURCH AND CATHOLICS IN POLITICAL LIFE

During the past several months, the issue of the proper role of the Church with regard to political issues, elections and the expectations/treatment of Catholics who are public officials has been much debated in the news.
Bishop Pilla has addressed this issue; his statement is inserted in this week's bulletin (as it was last week). In the statement, Bishop Pilla presents the principles which support the Church's right to speak out on moral issues in relation to political issues and public policies, the proper role of the Church with regard to elections, why the Church considers abortion to be a public policy issue and not only a matter of personal morality, the obligation of Catholics who serve in public office or as public officials with regard to Church teaching, and what all this means for Catholics in receiving Holy Communion.
Because of the widespread discussion these issues have generated, it is important to read & study the statement carefully.

Love the LORD your GOD with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. Do this and you will have eternal life.

BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS
Many people have commented in recent weeks about how beautiful the grounds are looking. The beauty of the parish grounds reflects the generosity and hard work of some beautiful people, who have donated plants, topsoil, mulch and many, many hours of hard work. It also reflects the hard work of our maintenance crew and the volunteers who work with them throughout the year. St. Malachi continues to benefit from people who live out good stewardship. Many thanks and God bless you!

But a Samaritan traveler who came upon him was moved with compassion at the sight. He approached the victim, poured oil and wine over his wounds and bandaged them.  Grow in Love
Then he lifted him up on his own animal, took him to an inn and cared for him." -Lk 10: 33-34
