HOLY DAY This Wednesday, August 15, is the feast of the Assumption of Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation. The Vigil Mass is Tuesday evening at 5:30 PM and the Holy Day Masses are Wednesday at 7 AM & 12:00 Noon.

BOOK SALE

Again this weekend, The Holy Longing - A Search for Christian Spirituality by Ronald Rolheiser will be available for purchase for $17.80 after all the Masses. Eighty books have been sold and 40 more purchased. Small group discussions will be held this Fall. For further information or questions, call Mary Carol Lucic 216-221-5017.

BLOSSOM CONCERT

St. Malachi Rejoice and Renew is sponsoring an evening at Blossom Music Center with the Cleveland Orchestra this Saturday, Aug. 18. Tickets include the concert & bus trip for $21. Call Rosemary Gray, 216-521-0191
RCIA JOURNEY OF FAITH The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a journey of faith open to all who are interested in exploring the Catholic faith. We meet on Monday evenings at St. Patrick, starting September 10. Summer is a good time to invite those who have begun to find a home at St. Malachi, but are not in full communion with us. CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY APPEAL Next weekend is the annual appeal for the Catholic University in Washington. Over a century ago, the U.S. bishops saw the need for a graduate center of Catholic theology, philosophy, and research for the Church; the need is just as great today. There will be a second collection at all the Masses.

St MALACHI PICNIC
PLANNING

Plans are being made for activities at the joint picnic on August 26 from Noon to 6 PM at the Lakewood Park Women’s Pavilion. Enjoy fellowship and a fun-filled day with fellow parishioners and Community members. Hamburgers & hot dogs will be provided; bring a side dish to share, your own beverage & place settings.

CHARITY OF THE MONTH The Social Action Commission has begun a "charity of the month" appeal to support the St. Malachi Ministries. For August, school supplies for neighborhood children can be left in the box in the front of church.

CHRISTIAN FORMATION

Children from St. Malachi Parish receive religious education in the Community's Christian Formation which begins Sept. 10.Registration is open for fall classes. Forms are at the rectory or call Carol Lucic (216) 221-5017.
CELEBRATE SERVICE

On Tuesday, September 11, at 7 PM, there is a "Celebration of Service" in church followed by an ice cream social for all who serve at St. Malachi: liturgical ministries (readers, Eucharistic Ministers, cantors, servers, ushers, Backdoor Ministry, office helpers, Friendly Visitor, etc. For information, call the office (216) 861-5343.

SUPPORT WELCOME

A meal without cost is served to the needy on Mondays at 6 PM in the parish hall. Doughnuts, sandwiches, and coffee are served daily at the rectory. Volunteers are needed, especially weekdays. Call Sr. Francis, 216-861-5343

COMPUTER RECYCLING

The Cuyahoga County "Computer Round-Up" is Saturday, August 18 from 9 AM-2 PM at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, Bagley Rd., Berea. All old computers & software will be upgraded & given to schools or recycled.

CENTER NEEDS

The shower program at St. Malachi Center is in great need of aerosol spray-on deodorants. They may be dropped off at the Center, the rectory or in the back of church. For info, call volunteer Patrick McDonnell 440-237-0895.

MALACHI MART

Malachi Mart hours are: Wednesday - Saturday, 10 AM - 5 PM; Sunday 10 AM - 1:30 PM.

WANTED: HELP FOR MART Malachi Mart supports the ministry of St. Malachi Center. The Mart is always looking for volunteers,  to assist in every way. 
The Mart is open from 10 AM to 5 PM, Wednesday through Saturday, Sundays from 10 AM to 1:30 PM.  For more information, call Bonnie or Jacqui at (216) 621-1988.
