Twentieth Sunday of Ordinary Time	Vol. 28 No. 34	August 19-20, 2000

ANNUAL MISSION APPEAL	This weekend is the annual Mission appeal. We welcome Fr. Thomas Meulemans, Procurator of the Norbertine Missionaries of Peru, South America, who will share the needs of the Church in that area and information about the people they serve. There will be a second collection at all Masses.
25th ANNIV CSM PICNIC	The Community of St. Malachi invites all parishioners to a picnic this Sunday, August 20, at Lakewood Park from Noon 'til ???. Bring side dish or dessert to share, place settings and beverages; hamburgers & hot dogs provided.
FUTURE CHURCH PROGRAM	The next FutureChurch Faith on Tap series for younger adults (21-40) is Tuesday, August 22 at St. Malachi Center, 6:15-8 PM (with dinner). Topic: One Bread, One Body: Who Is Welcome? A Review of Inclusion Issues. Presenters: Fr. Tim Daw and Barb Ballenger.
CHRISTIAN FORMATION	Children from St. Malachi Parish receive religious education in the Community's Christian Formation. Registration is open for fall classes. Forms are at the rectory or call Carol Lucic (216) 221-5017.
RCIA JOURNEY OF FAITH	The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a journey of faith open to all who are interested in exploring the Catholic faith. We meet on Monday evenings at St. Patrick, starting in September.   Summer is a good time to invite those who have begun to find a home at St. Malachi, but are not in full communion with us. MALACHI CTR GOLF RAFFLE	Hooking? Slicing? Can't make the putt? St. Malachi Center is raffling off five 45-minute golf lessons with Rick Zivsak, golf instructor. Tickets $1 each or 6 for $5, on sale next weekend after all Masses. Drawing on Saturday, September 2, after 4:30 Mass. For more info, call Joanne Kapitan (440) 237-6557.
CENTER CLOSED	St. Malachi Center will be closed this coming week, August 21-27, to allow the staff a much-needed break before the start of fall programs. Malachi Mart will be open during its regular hours.

PARISH EVENTS	Week of August 20-27: 1. Sunday: Coffee Hour after 9:30 Mass in the Hall 2. Monday: Urban Community School (UCS) Faculty, hall, 8:30 AM- 3 PM -- Meal for the poor, 6:00 PM in the parish hall.  3. Tuesday: UCS Faculty, hall, 8:30 AM- 3 PM -- FutureChurch Faith on Tap, 6:15-8 PM at St. Malachi Center  4. Wednesday: Urban Community School begins its 33rd year. Welcome back! -- Quiet prayer before the Eucharist, 5:30-6:30 PM in church, all welcome  5. Thursday: Eucharistic Holy Hour for peace at 11:00 AM; Mass at Noon. 6. Sunday: Backdoor Ministry Brunch, 8:30-9:30 AM in the hall -- Coffee Hour after 9:30 Mass in the Hall -- Angle Drawing after 12:30 Mass; proceeds for building maintenance. SUPPORT WELCOME	A meal without cost is served to the needy on Mondays at 6 PM in the parish hall. Coffee, sandwiches and doughnuts are served daily at the rectory. Volunteers are welcome (216-861-5343).
BACKDOOR NEEDS	Our Backdoor Ministry continues to need men's pants, sizes 32-38, clean, gently used (no holes) men's socks (any color) and L and XL sized men's t-shirts. Thank you!

WANTED: HELP FOR MART	Malachi Mart supports the ministry of St. Malachi Center. The Mart is always looking for volunteers,  to assist in every way. The Mart is open from 10 AM to 5 PM, Wednesday through Saturday, Sundays from 10 AM to 1:30 PM. For more information, call Bonnie or Jacqui at (216) 621-1988.
