GOD BLESS SISTER MICHAEL MARIE God's blessings on Sr. Michael Marie Griffin OSU who is leaving St. Malachi this week for her new  ministry doing mission work in a 3-county area in and around Carlyle, Kentucky. GOOD NEWS We have received notification that Kevin McKenna has been accepted as a candidate for the Permanent Diaconate. He and wife, Becky, will begin the four-year formation program this fall. Let us keep Kevin, Becky and their family in our prayers as they begin preparation for this ministry in our Diocese.
CENTER TALENT SHOW The children & teens of St. Malachi Center Summer Day Camp proudly invite all to attend their talent show "Come See What Kids are Made Of" this Wednesday, August 9, from 6-7:30 PM Admission: $2 for adults, $1 for children 5-14, children under 5 free. There will also be a bake sale.
SWENDELIN GARAGE SALE This Sunday, August 6, St. Wendelin Church is sponsoring their annual Summer Sundae Social and
Garage Sale from Noon to 5 PM on the parish grounds, 2281 Columbus Rd. There will be games and contests for children, raffles, and rides. For information, call 861-1141
CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY APPEAL Next weekend is the annual appeal for the Catholic University in Washington. Over a century ago, the
U.S. bishops saw the need for a graduate center of Catholic theology, philosophy, and research for the
Church; the need is just as great today. There will be a second collection at all the Masses.
DETROIT- SHOREWAY CHURCHES JUBILEE  Next Sunday, August 13, all are invited to an open house of the Catholic Churches & institutions of
the Detroit-Shoreway area as part of our Central West District Jubilee 2000 celebration. St. Colman,
St. Stephen, Our Lady of Mt Carmel, La Sagrada Familia, St. Augustine Manor and Augustine Towers
will all be open from 2-5 PM. All are invited and encouraged to attend.
CHRISTIAN FORMATION Children from St. Malachi Parish receive religious education in the Community's Christian Formation. Registration is open for fall classes. Forms are at the rectory or call Carol Lucic (216) 221-5017.
RCIA JOURNEY OF FAITH The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a journey of faith open to all who are interested in exploring the Catholic faith. We meet on Monday evenings at St. Patrick, starting in September.  Summer is a good time to invite those who have begun to find a home at St. Malachi, but are not in full communion with us. For information, call Mary Jane Treichel or Fr. Tony at 861-5343.

2. Monday: Meal for the poor, 6:00 PM in the parish hail.
--Circle of Prayer for needs of Parish, Community & individuals, 7:10-8 PM, in church, all welcome
3. Wednesday: Quiet prayer before the Eucharist, 5:30-6:30 PM in church, all welcome
-- St. Malachi Center Talent Show, 6-7:30 PM, all welcome
4. Thursday: Eucharistic Holy Hour for peace at 11:00 AM; Mass at Noon.
5. Sunday: Coffee Hour after 9:30 Mass in the Hall
SUPPORT WELCOME A meal without cost is served to the needy on Mondays at 6 PM in the parish hall. Coffee, sandwiches and doughnuts are served daily at the rectory. Volunteers are welcome (861-5343).
BACKDOOR NEEDS Men's pants, sizes 32-38, are needed for our homeless community. Also, clean, gently used (no holes) men's socks (any color) and L and XL sized men's t-shirts (white)continue to be needed for the Backdoor Ministry. Thank you!

WANTED: HELP FOR MART Malachi Mart supports the ministry of St. Malachi Center. The Mart is always looking for volunteers,  to assist in every way. The Mart is open from 10 AM to 5 PM, Wednesday through Saturday, Sundays from 10 AM to 1:30 PM. For more information, call Bonnie or Jacqui at (216) 621-1988.
