Backdoor Ministry

St Malachi Backdoor Ministry is open every day of the year to serve homeless men and women, transients, and anyone who comes looking for a bite to eat.  At the rectory backdoor, guests are served coffee, donuts and a sandwich.  Personal care items and clothing is distributed as is needed and available.  The Backdoor is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM and on Sundays and holidays from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM  Generally, there are two shifts of two or more volunteers who serve and prepare sandwiches each day.  The Backdoor Ministry is supported by the St. Malachi Food Fund.  Volunteers are coordinated through the parish office.

Monday Night Meal

The Monday Night Meal is primarily  a ministry of the Community of St. Malachi, but welcomes volunteers from the parish and the larger community.  A meal is served every Monday evening, including holidays, from approximately 5:45-6:30 PM.  Volunteers are asked to come between 5:00-5:30 PM and remain until the cleanup is finished, at approximately 7:15 PM.

Friendly Visitors

The ministry of the Friendly Visitors is to serve sick, shut-ins, and the elderly persons at St. Malachi Parish.  This group of men and women commit themselves to visit a person or couple once or twice each month, evidencing the continuing concern and care of the Church for them.  Friendly Visitors have and opportunity to receive training/in-service from the Diocese on a periodic basis.  The Friendly Visitors ministry is coordinated by Sr. Francis Borgia OSU
