The Baptistry: was preserved from the fire. The continued use of the churches original baptistry provides a rich symbol of the unbroken line of faith which connects every person baptized at St. Malachi through its history.

The Pieta: was first displayed at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair and then obtained by St. Malachi. The wood carving was damaged by the fire, repaired and restored. Originally displayed in the vestibule, it was moved to its present location during the 1976-77 renovation.

Sanctuary Cross & Risen Christ

Sanctuary Cross & Risen Christ: was installed during the 1976-77 renovation The Celtic Cross is an authentic copy of the oldest cross in Ireland, located in Sligo. The circle, a symbol of eternal life, runs through the cross and proclaims our faith in eternal life through the cross and resurrection of Christ. The four cusps (knobs) represent the four Gospels.

Designed by Laurence Campbell of Chicago, it was created and carved by Patrick J Gannon, an Irish immigrant The risen Christ was carved by Frank Kukczka who spent five years in a Nazi work camp.
