Highlights of the February 6, 2002 Parish Council Meeting:
1) Parish Council Openings: There are four possible openings for At-Large Members of Parish Council. Members serve three year terms; meetings are six times a year, on the first Wednesdays of even-numbered months. For more information, call the Council President, Tom Kastelic at (216) 586-7307 (work) or (216) 268-4742.

2) Developing World Resolution: Recognizing St. Malachi's historic commitment to serving people who are poor and in need, and recognizing the enormous poverty throughout the developing world, the Parish Council passed the following resolution: St. Malachi Parish and Community hereby makes an ongoing commitment to serve and be served by some part of the developing world, in a manner which shall be decided by the Councils of the Community of St. Malachi and St. Malachi Parish on an on-going basis. [Note: the Council of the Community of St. Malachi passed the same resolution at its February meeting.]

3) Lenten Outreach Project: As the first effort to implement the "Developing World Resolution," the Parish Council approved the proposal to support the ministry of Fr. John King, a member of our diocesan Mission Team, serving in Teotopeque, El Salvador. The money donated by members of St. Malachi from their Lenten sacrifices will be sent to Fr. King to provide shoes for the children of his community (which will enable them to attend school) and to assist in the repair of earthquake- damaged chapels in the villages served by his parish. Any printing costs will be paid by the parish; 100% of the funds donated will be sent to El Salvador. [Note: the Council of the Community of St. Malachi passed the same resolution at its February meeting.]

4) St. Malachi Photo Directory: Parish Council approved a proposal to create a photo directory for St. Malachi Church. The Photo Directory will include members of St. Malachi Parish and the Community of St. Malachi. Each individual or family who has their picture taken will receive a free 8 x 10" photo and a copy of the directory. They will be able to order additional pictures; cost will depend on the particular order but is competitive. There is no cost to St. Malachi. Individuals and families will be asked to sign up for a time for picture-taking; both weekday and weekend times will be available. This will probably take place during the summer.
