Old Angle Fun Festival
The Old Angle Family Fun Festival will be held on Saturday, July 5 in the St.
Malachi Center parking lots from 11:00am to 2:00pm. It will be a great day of
games, prizes, food and old-fashioned carnival fun. Bring the whole family!
Volunteers are needed; if interested please call Lynn Scott at 216-771-3036.
Church Open House
On Saturday, July 5, during the St. Malachi Center’s Family Fun Fest and
the Superior Viaduct’s public tours, we would like to greet folks with
hospitality and information about St. Malachi’s presence in the area as well
as a stop in the church if they like.
If you could please help for an hour between 10:00am and 2:00pm, please
contact the rectory at 216-861-5343.
Yard Sale
The Social Action Committee will have a “Yard Sale” at the July 5 Old
Angle Family Fun Festival. We need items to be sold. If you have items of the
Yard Sale variety, please bring the items to Church on Sunday, June 29. Be sure
that the box of items is clearly marked “Yard Sale – Social Action
Committee.” Unmarked donations are not permitted to be sold.
If you want items to be picked up at your home, please call Joan Daly
(440-333-1755) to arrange for pickup.

This collection enables the Pope to respond to requests for emergency funds from

Spiritual Development Committee

Wednesday Pray
Please join us this Wednesday, June 25 for praying with the Labyrinth
and next Wednesday July 2 for praying The Presence of God. Both meet in
the Church at 6:00pm.
Social Action Committee

Thank you for supporting the Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, June 8. The money
raised will be sent to the Humility of Mary Sisters who work with the
collaborative initiative to stop human trafficking.
Hospitality Committee

The Hospitality committee is holding an organizational meeting July 13 right
after 11:00 Liturgy in the library to discuss plans for the coming year.
We have a number of fun things planned in addition to the regular CSM
happenings. We need volunteers and planners for our usual success.
The St. Malachi picnic is scheduled for August 17 from 1:00-4:00 and we want
to get started on the planning. Anybody with ideas is welcome. No
experience necessary.
We also are looking for volunteers who will provide refreshments for
community functions, either baked goods or beverages. We are hoping to
have enough people to rotate so that you will not be asked for every

Golf Outing

Center's Anniversary Raffle
This year, the Center
is offering a “progressive” raffle, with drawings every month! Tickets are
only $12 each or three for $30! The next drawing is Monday June 30. Winning
tickets go back into the “hopper” to be eligible to win the other monthly
and the grand or runner-up prize. The grand prize is $5000 and the runner-up
prize is $1000. The grand prize drawing is Saturday November 8 after 4:30 Mass
in the School Hall.

Swim Meet Benefit
OHIO Masters Swim Club will offer 1 mile and 2 mile swims on a 1/2 mile
course in Lake Erie. The event will be held at Edgewater State Park on
Saturday, July 26. Registration begins at 6:45 a.m. and ends at
1:00pm.

Book Discussion
The meeting for June is Wednesday June 25 at 7:00pm. The book we will discuss
is My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult. We will meet at the
home of Pat O'Malley, 9764 Sugarbush, Olmsted Falls; phone 440-816-0847.
Pat has asked us to bring a "Christmas in July" donation
for Malachi House (paper products, postage stamps, soda pop in cans,
ground coffee.)
The July meeting will be July 16...........note date, please. This will
be our organizational meeting for the following 12 months. We will have
our pot luck at the home of Rebecca Rocco, as usual. Questions? Call Casey at

CSM Road Trip to M.A.S.H.
Plans are underway for a CSM group attendance at a stellar performance by
Peter Toomey in the ever popular comedy “M.A.S.H.” The date is Friday, June
27. The time is 8:00pm. The place is the Brecksville Little Theatre, Brecksville
Old Town Hall, NW corner of the square, Ohio 82 (Royalton Road), 100 feet west
of Ohio 21 (Brecksville Road).
The cost for reserved seating is $10. To reserve a seat, leave a message at

Do come and join us in communally cheering and/or hooting Peter’s

Deacon Ordination
“My life is at service of the Gospel; God has given me this gift of his
grace.” (cf Eph 3, 6-7). With praise and thanksgiving to Almighty God, the
family of Pavol Hrabovecky announces his ordination to the Order of Deacon on
Friday, June 20 in the Cathedral of St. Elizabeth in Kosice, Slovakia. Pavol
(Paul) was ‘our” Slovak seminarian two years ago; let us keep him in our
prayers as he is ordained a deacon and begins his diaconal ministry!
Faith and Sharing Retreat
This year, the annual Faith and Sharing Retreat, Thou Shall Not Stand Idly
By, will take place July 10-13 at Ursuline College. The animator will be Rev.
George Hrbek, long-time pastor, co-founder of Near West Theater, Lutheran
Metropolitan Ministry and community activist.
A special feature of the Faith and Sharing Retreat is the dynamic among
retreatants who are people of all ages, life experiences, physical conditions
and education. All are welcome!
Cost is $160 for adults, $125 for children. This includes lodging, meals and
supplies. A limited number of scholarships are available.

Community of St. Malachi Council Meeting Minutes
June 12, 2008
Pending Approval
Present: Jim Connell, Kay Vine, Barb Aylward, Gary Pritts, Jackie Bluett, Fr.
Tony, Mike Petit, Joan Daly, Barb Pistillo, Fran DeChant, Carol Anders, Nancy
Mura, Pam Pulizzi, Bob Simoneau, Ron Perger, Jim Zaferopolos, Christine
Crawford, Diane Brinich, Marie James, Lou Keim.
Call to Order at 6:30 pm.
Opening Prayer: Led by Kay Vine
Minutes from the May meeting were corrected to include the phrase “at
this time” after the word stewardship. Kay Vine moved to accept the minutes as
corrected;
Jim Zaferopolos moved to second the motion. The minutes were approved.
Agenda Items:
Approval of Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2008
Discussion: Bob Simoneau noted that the Community will end this year with a
$10,000 deficit. New budget is $6,000 less than last year. Currently,
commitments are up by $7,000. No changes were made.
Bob Simoneau moved to accept the proposed budget.
Pam Pulizzi moved to second. Budget was approved.
Approval of Finance Council for Fiscal Year 2008
Discussion: Bob Simoneau noted that Ed Shemo has completed 3 years on the
Council. He proposed that Jennifer Blankenship be appointed as Ed’s
replacement. Jennifer Blankenship has professional expertise in the financial
area and is a two year Community member.
Bob Simoneau moved to appoint Jennifer Blankenship.
Barb Pistillo moved to second. Appointment was approved.
Update on Cluster Process
Discussion: Jim Connell noted that the Cluster Team was in the process of
discussing 7 proposed scenarios. By early in July, the Team will select 4 or
fewer scenarios which will be presented to the parishes for input. Meeting for
the Community of St. Malachi input session was set for Tuesday, July 22 at 7:00
pm. Cluster Team will meet in August to review input from all parishes.
Status of Malachi Mart
Discussion: Jim Connell reviewed the letter from Mike Smith, President, St.
Malachi Center Board of Trustees, apprising the Community of the current status
of Malachi Mart. Profits and donations are down. Jim Connell noted that no
decision has been made about Mart’s future. Board is asking for ideas
regarding new suppliers; Community members are encouraged to shop there.
Guidelines for Announcements
Feedback has been positive about Sunday announcements. Liturgy Committee will
review guidelines for announcements.

Committee Reports:
Membership: Barb Pistillo reported on new format for the Community
roster.
Roster will be available in July.
Hospitality : Marie James announced the Community picnic is set for
8/17/08 at Lakewood Park. Planning meeting will be 7/13/08 after liturgy.
Spiritual Development: Jackie Bluett noted next meeting is 6/14 from
11:00am to 2:00pm.
Liturgy: Mike Petit asked for input (by the end of June) for Charlene
McElwee’s annual evaluation.
Social Action: Joan Daly noted that the committee was looking for
ideas for shared events with the other cluster parishes. Suggestions were:
prayer gathering, a picnic, and an information session in the fall regarding
Faithful Citizenship, before the election.
Jim Connell asked that Council discuss ideas at a later date.
Jim Connell noted that the current council is in effect until the end of
June, according to the new Charter. This corresponds to our fiscal year.
Pastor’s Report: Report was emailed to all members. No additions or
discussion.
Parish Council: Kay Vine announced that the Viaduct will be open for
tours on Saturdays, July 5 and August 30. Council would like to have the church
open for tours from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Volunteers call Kay.
Council Committees are asked to submit any planned dates for shared
cluster activities, to avoid conflicts.
Other Business: Jim Connell noted that Council does not meet in July. He
will email members about a July potluck, commissioning ceremony, and meeting
dates for the coming year.
Meeting adjourned at 7:35 pm.
