The Community of St. Malachi – First Personal Parish of the Diocese of Cleveland
Celebrating Faith in God and in the Future!

Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

 January 27, 2008

2008 Community Recommitment

As a personal parish in the Diocese of Cleveland, we individually choose the Community as our spiritual home. As members, we annually re-commit ourselves to the community and to the many ministries we are called to serve. Our charter provides that each of us must renew our individual commitment every year. This gives us the opportunity to consider how we intend to serve God and others during the coming year as part of our spiritual journey within the Community. For nearly forty years this community of believers has drawn members from far and near to worship, pray and work together to carry out the goals and ideals and activities of the Gospel.
As a Community, we recognize the need to be able to know our members. Membership in the Community entitles members to hold office and to vote on matters that come before the Community. It is also important for pastoral and sacramental purposes.
For the three Sundays beginning February 3, we will address the meaning of commitment during the CSM announcements. On February 17, the 2008 re-commitment process will begin with a celebration of our re-commitment at a breakfast/brunch in the hall immediately following the 11:00 liturgy.
(For those who cannot join us at brunch, re-commitment forms will be available at the membership table for the following 3 Sundays.)

Malachi Center Volunteers

We are in need of regular office volunteers. Duties might include answering the phones, filing, helping with mailings and fundraisers and possibly coordinating paperwork for reports. We would like to put together a team of volunteers so no one or two persons are volunteering every day. If you can help us a few hours each week, please call Lynn Scott at 216-771-3036, Monday through Thursday.

Backdoor Help Needed

A meal without cost is served at 6:00pm on Mondays to the needy in the hall. Sandwiches, doughnuts, & coffee are served daily at the rectory. Volunteers are needed, especially weekdays. Call Sr. Francis at 216-861-5343.

Award Winner

At the 2008 Saint Ignatius High School Alumni Appreciation Dinner on February 13, Jeff Leitch will receive the Rev. Gerald B. Garvey, S.J. Award. This is the highest award given by the Alumni Association to one of its members. Jeff, you are a “Man for Others
