Thirty Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Prayer Requests

It is our privilege always to pray for others. At St. Malachi, we have set up an e-mail prayer request network for the families of members and former members of the Parish and Community. In response to a number of requests and questions, please keep in mind the following policies:

1) Requests for prayers must come from the individual, the family or a designated family spokesperson. This is necessary to protect the privacy rights of the individuals. This is a matter of respect for human dignity, but also, potentially, a matter of federal law regarding the confidentiality of medical information. We do request that a family spokesperson verify that the person or persons mentioned do know and wish their name(s) published. We honor confidentiality.

2) The Communications Committee has also established that prayer requests must be phoned, e-mailed or sent to the rectory office. Centralizing where the requests are made makes it easier for everyone, as the e-mail alerts the pastoral staff is there is an immediate need.

3) The “family” members for whom we are invited to pray is interpreted broadly. It is not only for members of the immediate family, i.e. we never wish to not include cousins, uncles, aunts, etc.

We want to invite people to pray for members of our St. Malachi “family” who are in need of prayer support, strengthening our personal connection and unity with each other in prayer. In short, “LET US PRAY” – simply let us pray. No “hang ups” – If you have a prayer request, let us help.

Dolores Sullin, Member, Communications Committee; Prayer Alerts Coordinator

Malachi Mart Such a Deal!

Everyone knows how to multi-task these days, right?! It's essential to our way of life in 2007. We talk on the phone while driving, make dinner while supervising homework, get dressed while planning our day's work, and…shop while donating? Yes, you can shop and donate at the same time at Malachi Mart. Did you know that when you buy the things at Malachi Mart that you would buy anyway somewhere else, you are helping to support the work of St. Malachi Center?

Malachi Mart has lots of things you would buy elsewhere --- cards, gift wrap, groceries, hardware, cosmetics, etc. -- and the prices are LOW, LOW, LOW! So check out the Mart and help the Center at the same time. With the Christmas season coming upon us, we all have extra shopping to do. Do yours at Malachi Mart and support the work of the Center while getting a great deal for yourself, as well. Who knew that multi-tasking could feel so good?! Cindy DiNardo, Mart Committee

P.S. Bring in this article and receive $1.00 off on your purchase of $5.00 or more. The Mart is located at 1303 Washington Ave. and is open Tuesday - Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Visa, Master Card and Ohio Direction Card accepted; checks with proper ID.
