“WE’RE READY TO HELP”
|
|
Message from Helen Misener, Chair,
CSM Social Action Committee
“Have you been ill, needing a temporary assist, but didn’t know who to
ask? The Social Action Committee is happy to announce that we now have enough
volunteers to be of assistance to Community of St. Malachi members who are in
need of a temporary assist due to illness, death in the family, etc.
“We currently have CSM volunteers who are willing to provide:
- Some transportation
- An occasional meal
- Some light housekeeping
- A couple of loads of laundry
- A pick-up of a few groceries or a prescription
“We also have one volunteer who would be willing to sit with a person
recovering from surgery.
“If you are a CSM member in need of such short-term assistance, have
further questions about this plan, or you would like to be a volunteer, please
call me, Helen Misener, at 440-427-8023.”

Message from Charlene McElwee:
“We begin our Liturgy today, Feb. 25, by singing the Litany of the Saints,
calling upon all of God’s holy ones to walk with us during our Lenten journey.
On Holy Saturday night, God’s newest Chosen Ones will make their journey to
the waters of Baptism and emerge recreated in the image of Jesus Christ. The
prayer that accompanies them is again the Litany of the Saints. All you holy
men and women pray for us!” - C.M.
Message from Jackie Bluett:
“Confused about what Islam teaches? What the differences are between Sunnis
and Shiites? Wondering how the Judaism of Jesus’ day connects with Judaism
today? Fr. Joseph Hilinski, Interfaith Director for the Diocese of
Cleveland, is presenting a five-part program “Religions of the World: Focus on
Judaism and Islam.” Due to our bad weather, the program’s start was delayed
until just last Tuesday, Feb. 20. There are four more sessions, from 7-9 p.m. in
St. Malachi Church hall. His topic next Tuesday, Feb. 27, is “Part I Judaism:
From the Temple in Jerusalem to the Synagogue in America.” The other dates of
this much anticipated series are all Tuesdays: Mar. 13, 20 and 27 (note: no
program Mar. 6.) The series is co-sponsored by St. Malachi Spiritual Development Committee and the Cleveland
Central West District. For more information, see the flyers at the church doors.”
- J.B.

COUNSELING ASSISTANCE FUND
The Ohio Catholic Bishops, through the Catholic Conference of Ohio, have
created a new fund, independent of the Church, to help adult survivors of
childhood sexual abuse. The Counseling Assistance Fund is designed to provide
counseling or similar mental health services for persons who were sexually
abused as minors by clergy or other representatives of the Catholic Church. The
Counseling Assistance Fund is different from existing forms of assistance
because it is directed toward persons who are reluctant to contact the Church
for help. For more information on the Counseling Assistance Fund, go to
www.counselingassistancefund.org
