Message from Karen Duffy, Director of Religious
Education:
“You may have noticed the tree banner hanging to the left of the sanctuary.
This is our ‘Jesus Tree’ and is part of the First Eucharist ‘Table of the
Lord’ program. The leaves on the tree have the names of each of the children
who will receive the Eucharist for the first time in April. Each week a symbol
will be added to the banner. The symbols represent the stories that the children
will be learning during their preparation. Each story connects to a part of the
Mass. The stories are: The Wedding at Cana (Introductory Rite); Zacchaeus
(Penitential Rite); The Good Samaritan (Gospel); The Daughter
of Jairus (General Intercession); Martha and Mary (Preparation of the
Altar and Gifts); Jesus Feeds the 5,000 (Eucharistic Prayer); The Last
Supper (Memorial Acclamation); The Breakfast at the Lake (Sign of
Peace); The Road to Emmaus (Communion Rite); Jesus in Others (Concluding
Rite).
Please keep our second graders in your prayers as they prepare to join us
at the Table of the Lord.” - K.D.

Message from Mike Petit and Charlene McElwee:
“The Liturgy Committee needs you!
Have you ever wanted to get
more involved with our liturgy preparation here at St. Malachi but been
frustrated by time constraints and don’t want to commit to attending monthly
meetings? Here’s a chance to help energize our Easter Season! We need a
network of small groups (two to four people) to reflect on/react to the
Scripture readings of the Sundays of Eastertime. All you need to be available
for is one meeting, lasting about 1 ½ hours, to be scheduled at a
mutually agreeable time and place, and be willing to read, listen and react to
the Word of God. You need not be a theologian or Scripture scholar. Members of
the committee will serve as facilitators and data gatherers. Need more
information? Call Mike Petit, CSM Liturgy chair (440-884-9309) or Charlene
McElwee (781-3110).
Message from Pam Pulizzi:

evening. If you are willing to help for just an hour or so during the event or
if you know any groups (students, organizations) looking for volunteer
opportunities here is an exciting chance that benefits the center.
This year the
benefit will be held
Thursday, Mar. 29, at the
Crowne Plaza Hotel,

City Centre,

Message from Barb Starre:
“Dear Malachi Friends: I think about all you wonderful people often and am
grateful for all the love and support you gave to Dave and me during his
illness. There is nothing more precious than the friendship and love you so
generously shared. I recently read ‘A Grief Observed’ by C. S. Lewis.
It is an account of his dealing with the loss of his wife after only a short
period of marriage. Lewis married late in life after falling madly in love with
an American woman who had been diagnosed with cancer. He went into the marriage
knowing full well that their life together may be short lived. The love they
shared was extraordinary and many passages in ‘A Grief Observed’ echo how I
feel about Dave.
“Lewis wrote of his wife Joy, ‘I will turn to her as often as possible in
gladness. I will even salute her with a laugh. The less I mourn her the nearer I
seem to her.’ He further writes in the same chapter…’in grief nothing
stays put. One keeps on emerging from a phase, but it always recurs. Round and
round. Everything repeats. Am I going in circles, or dare I hope I am on a
spiral?’
“For me, the grief does not go round and round – the ‘missing him’
occurs at moments when it is less expected – like tender surprises – like
tiny blossoms under dry leaves in the springtime – the heart aches but only
for a while, then it is warmed by the memory and reality of love shared – the
love that never dies – the love that still grows and even flourishes – the
love that expands and fills one with an indescribable joy that wells up only to
spill out and touch others.
“I am filled with gratitude and love for all the years of emotional and
spiritual growth I experienced with my beloved Dave. And I thank all of you for
being part of that experience.” - B.S.
Another Message from Barb Starre:
“A Program at Starre’s Acres - Leaving a spiritual legacy for our
loved ones is important especially in today’s world where we all live in a
busy, fast paced culture where our values and beliefs may be buried in the
rigors and demands of daily life. A nine month program will take place at Starre’s
Acres where we can learn to create a Life Book to record our most precious
legacy for those we love. And that legacy has to deal with our spiritual values,
what motivates us, and our faith. It is learning to share and tell our unique
story of love for those who are important in our lives.
“The nine Life Book sessions will take place on the fourth Saturday of each
month, beginning Mar. 24, 2007, from 9 until 11:30 a.m. The cost is $90 for all
nine sessions – a linen-bound book may also be purchased at an additional
cost.
“The sessions will be presented by Dee Curci, who has created this
unique journey of hope and legacy of love. Dee will present a free introductory
session at Starre’s Acres at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15 for anyone interested in
participating in the Life Book Series and to answer any questions. Please call
me, Barbara Starre, at 330-239-1217 if you are interested in attending
this free introductory session, or need directions to Starre’s Acres. Life
Book flyers and registration forms are available in the Monday Night Meal
kitchen or the rectory.” - B.S.
