Message from Mary Carol Lucic, Marty Miller and Jackie Bluett:
|
|
“Now the Lord came and stood there, calling as before, ‘Samuel!
Samuel!’ And Samuel said, ‘Speak, for your servant is listening.’ (1
Samuel 3:10)”
“It’s almost time to elect people to our CSM Community
Council. There are seven positions to be filled: Treasurer; Hospitality,
Spiritual Development and Social Action committee chairs, and three At-Large
council members. As was said in our last CSM Newsletter: ‘Take the time
this year to be involved, share time with like-minded, compassionate people and
be a part of decision-making in your church’s future. No experience is
necessary. Cooperation and spiritual growth are guaranteed. Call us or talk with
any of us at coffee hour. Your nominating committee members:
Mary Carol Lucic - 216-221-5017
Marty Miller - 216-531-9293
Jackie Bluett - 440-526-8574
This coming year’s CSM Community Council will be elected at
our annual meeting Sunday, Apr. 23”

Messsage from Mike Petit, Liturgy Committee Chair:
“During Lent, the lectors are following a new procedure. Each walks to the
ambo (lectern) individually. After the Opening Prayer (Collect), the first
reader proceeds to the sanctuary, proclaims the reading and then returns to the
assembly. The second reader does the same at the end of the Responsorial Psalm.
The rationale for this comes from two considerations. First, it eliminates the
clumsy arrangement of the extra lector in the sanctuary. Secondly, it provides a
more defining period of silence before and after each reading.”

Message from Mary McNamara:
“I am a member of the Community of St. Malachi. I am a social worker as
well, with a local non-profit (Fairhill Center). For the past 12 months, I have
been particularly focused on helping low income seniors figure out the maze of
Medicare Part D. Our local coalition, Greater Cleveland Access to Benefits
Coalition, has been funded by several local foundations including the Sisters of
Charity Foundation and the St. Luke’s Foundation…Here is a simple statement
about this call center and free service for seniors that may be helpful…
LOSE THE CONFUSION AND GAIN THE BENEFITS
Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage is available to all Medicare
beneficiaries. There’s extra help for those with limited income and resources.
To find out if you, or someone you care for, are eligible for the extra help –
may be worth up to $2000 – call the Greater Cleveland Access to Benefits
Coalition at
216-373-1650” -- M.M.

ST. MALACHI 2006 LENTEN APPEAL – De La SALLE SCHOOL in BETHLEHEM
This is a Christian school in the Holy Land serving 600 girls and boys,
Christian and Muslim, from pre-school through high school. Fr. Tony visited
the school last fall during his retreat in the Holy Land; it reminded him of
Urban Community School. The school is a sign of hope in this troubled land.
There is a two-track religion program – Christian and Muslim. The school
teaches non-violence and peace; each incidence is discussed. About 90% of its
graduates go on to college. Tuition is about a dollar a day (i.e. $365); the
annual cost per student is $700. Because unemployment in Bethlehem is
currently 50%, the school operates at a deficit. During Lent, we are invited
to make a daily Lenten sacrifice and put the money aside. Envelopes are
available at the church doors; please make checks payable to “St. Malachi
Benefit Fund.” At the end of Lent, the funds will be forwarded t the school.
LENTEN CROSSES
We are invited to take a nail cross, which can be found at the church
doors, hold it during our Lenten prayers, then bring it to the Good Friday
Liturgy to join it with Jesus’ cross.

p.m. in St. Malachi parking lot for prayerful walk to Public Square and
