Message from the CSM NOMINATING COMMITTEE:
CSM NOMINATING COMMITTEE:
“Make new friends! Influence People!
“It’s almost time for the Cleveland Indians home opener game of the
season. It is now your time to step up to the plate and be a part of our
Community of St. Malachi Council. Similar to the Indians, our meetings prove to
be stimulating, packed with exciting happenings and well orchestrated plays.
Unlike the Indians, we meet only monthly. Take the time this year to be
involved, share time with like-minded, compassionate people and be a part of
decision-making in your church’s future. No experience is necessary.
Cooperation and spiritual growth are guaranteed. Call us or talk with any of us
at coffee hour, your nominating committee members: Mary Carol Lucic (216-221-5017),
Marty Miller (216-531-9293) and Jackie Bluett (440-526-8574). We’d
like to join you to our list this month of March.”
(This coming year’s CSM Community Council will be selected at our annual
meeting Sunday, Apr. 23. There are seven positions to be filled: Treasurer;
Hospitality, Spiritual Development and Social Action committee chairs; and three
At-Large council members.)

ST. MALACHI 2006 LENTEN APPEAL – DeLaSALLE SCHOOL, BETHLEHEM
This is a Christian school in the Holy Land serving 600 boys and girls,
Christian and Muslim, from pre-school through high school. Fr. Tony visited
the school last fall during his retreat in the Holy Land; it reminded him of
Urban Community School. The school is a sign of hope in this troubled land.
There is a two-track religion program – Christian and Muslim. The school
teaches non-violence and peace; each incidence is discussed. About 90% of its
graduates go on to college. Tuition is about a dollar a day (i.e. $365); the
annual cost per student is $700. Because unemployment in Bethlehem is currently
50%, the school operates at a deficit.
During Lent, we are invited to make a daily Lenten sacrifice and put the
money aside. Envelopes are available at the church doors; please make checks
payable to “St. Malachi Benefit Fund.” At the end of Lent, the funds will be
forwarded to the school.
