CSM COMMUNITY COUNCIL ELECTIONS COMING UP!!
|
|
Message from the Nominating Committee:
“From its beginnings, the Community of St. Malachi has emphasized the
principles of lay direction and lay leadership in the life of the community. The
council of the CSM serves as its governing body.
“This coming year’s council will be selected at our annual meeting
Sunday, Apr. 23. There are seven positions to be filled: Treasurer; Hospitality,
Spiritual Development and Social Action committee chairs; and three At-Large
council members.
“Nominations are open to all CSM members. Nominating Committee members Marty
Miller, Jackie Bluett and/or Carol Lucic will be at coffee hour
Sunday, Feb. 26. If you feel called to serve or have someone you would like to
nominate, please speak to one of them or to any member of the current council.
“Our CSM Council is given the power to make and carry out decisions as to
the policies, programs, activities, finances and all other matters concerning
the Community of St. Malachi. The next council will be faced with the especially
challenging issue of clustering, which will affect the nature and essence of our
CSM. (See the article in Feb. 26 Communio.)
“As per our CSM Charter and Handbook:
“The CSM Treasurer shall maintain financial records, pay authorized
CSM obligations and perform other duties as normally ascribed to the position.
The Treasurer shall serve ex-officio as a member of the Finance Council.
“The Spiritual Development Committee will provide opportunities for
spiritual growth for the council and community.
“The Social Action Committee will provide opportunities for
addressing peace and justice issues in our neighborhood, in our city, and in our
country in fulfilling our mission of healing, consoling and helping persons in
need.
“The Hospitality Committee is responsible for working with the
ushers for Sunday Liturgy as well as for providing refreshments for coffee hour
and CSM meetings.
“At-Large Members shall attend one of the New Members’ Meetings
during the year and are encouraged to work on ad hoc committees and to
participate in CSM outreach as well as share in other council duties.”- M.M.
Next CSM Council meeting – 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 7,
St. Malachi Center. Agenda to include plans for Apr. 23 annual meeting. All
welcome. Information: Bill Johansen, 440-353-0606.

Message from Jim Pellegrino:
“This is a quick note of thanks to the CSM and St. Malachi Parish for all
the prayers and cards that I received while recovering from my recent heart
by-pass surgery. The numbers of cards and thoughts were overwhelming and I truly
believe they contributed towards the successful recovery I now enjoy. That gift
has made me a confirmed advocate of the power of prayers – and very grateful
that we have a community and parish that believes in such.” - J.P.

CITIZEN CIRCLES FORMING
Would you be willing to help someone returning from prison to become a
productive citizen? Across our area, Citizen Circles are forming to help
offenders to make the changes from “offender” to citizen.” The circle
includes the broader community representatives, the offender and his/her family
members. Together they address a re-entry plan to address the specific needs of
the individual (i.e. education, job placement, health, housing, etc.) and to
help him/her become accepted as a productive community member. The Citizen
Circle works with the Ohio Adult Parole Authority to help assure that the
re-entry process is a productive experience leading to a positive involvement in
the community. An information meeting is scheduled for 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday,
Mar. 9, in the Cathedral Square Plaza Building (1404 E. 9th St. lower
level). For information call Phil Nunes (216-881-7882) or Sr. Rita
Mary Harwood (216-696-6525, Ext. 2200).
