because of other natural disasters and Third World AIDS epidemics.
Let us pray, too, for the bishops and cardinals who are delegates to the
International Synod on the Eucharist, that the Holy Spirit will lead them to
recognize the rich diversity of Jesus’ call to “feed my lambs…feed my
sheep.”

CSM CONGRATULATIONS to Steve and Rosemarie DeJohn, who have
welcomed into their family their first grandchild, Rocco.
AND A HEARTY CSM WELCOME TO OUR NEW SEMINARY
INTERN:
(The best way to introduce him is his way. Following is the introduction he
gave at St. Malachi Liturgies last Sunday, the text of which he provided for the
CSM Newsletter upon request.)
“My name is Ed Suszynski, Jr. I am from St. Bede Parish and am in my
third year of theology at St. Mary Seminary, which as most of you know from
years and seminarians past, is the internship year. Last Sunday, six classmates
and I moved into our respective internship parishes and took another step
towards priesthood. I consider it to be an honor and blessing to be at St.
Malachi this year as a seminarian intern and I will be with you through
mid-April.
“Now, a few words about myself. I am 24 years old and my birthday is Oct.
15. I come from a family of five, of which I am the oldest of three children. My
sister Cheryl will be graduating from John Carroll in the spring with a
degree in psychology and my brother Joe will complete his auto mechanic
certification later this year at Tri-C. My parents, Ed and Debby, have
been married for 27 years.
“I graduated from Mentor High School in 1999. Later that year I entered
Borromeo Seminary and John Carroll University, graduating four years later, in
May 2003, with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, a minor in history, and a
concentration in Catholic Studies.
“Since entering the seminary I have been blessed with many opportunities to
learn and grow, both here at home and abroad. Some of my journeys abroad have
taken me to Rome and Assisi, El Salvador, Montreal and London, and during the
summer of 2004 I was on a five-week mission trip to Uganda and Kenya.
“When I am not involved in seminary or church related activities, I am most
likely involved in my main hobby, which is music. I enjoy listening to music of
all kinds, singing, going to orchestra concerts, operas and Broadway musicals,
and trying my hand as a composer and lyricist.
“In conclusion, not only am I looking forward to meeting all of you after
Mass but also I am excited and eager to work and journey with all of you and to
learn and grow in my understanding of parish life, ministry and what it means to
be a priest. Lastly, please know that I will be praying for all of you and I
simply ask for your prayers in return. Have a good evening – good day and
peace be with you.” - E.S.

Message from Jackie Bluett:
“Thank you to the office volunteers who are helping us at St. Malachi
Center. We appreciate your support. We also have need for more Reading
Buddies. It is a 1-1 ½ hours commitment weekly to assist one or two students to
improve reading skills. The hours are either 3-4 or 4-5 Tuesday through Friday.
We do have 15 wonderfully committed Reading Buddies, some whom even commit to
two hours per week. Our goal is to have no more than two students per Reading
Buddy and help all students in kindergarten and all students who need reading
improvement through the fourth grade. With nine registered kindergarteners and
45 registered students from one to fourth grade, we still have need for more
Buddies. If you are interested, please call me, Jackie Bluett, from
Tuesday through Friday, at the center, 216-771-3036, Ext. 15.” -
Message from Mike Pellegrino:
“Hello S.M.A.R.T. Parents (St. Malachi Adults Raising Tots, Tweens,
Teens…) We are planning a DEAR (Drop Everything and {bike] Ride) Day . On
Sunday, Oct. 16, we are planning a bike outing on the Towpath Trail through the
Cuyahoga Valley National Park. We will gather at approximately 1:15 p.m. at the
Canal Visitor Center, 7104 Canal Rd., at the corner of Hillside Drive in Valley
View. We will enjoy a brown bag picnic (bring your own) and then begin bike
riding at about 2 p.m. From the visitor center, Brecksville Station is less than
five miles and Peninsula is about 20, so there is something for everyone. Please
feel free to join us for lunch, biking or both.” - M.P. –

please go to www.stmalachi.org/email.htm. You can also remove your name
from the list or change your information.
ATTENTION! ALERT! LISTEN UP!
We’ll have a rare opportunity to get an extra half-hour’s sleep.
On Sunday, Nov. 6, our Liturgy will be at 11:30 a.m.
The CSM Council approved this one-time change to cooperate with St. Malachi
Parish’s celebration of its 140th Anniversary and the Feast of St. Malachy.
Its 9:30 a.m. Mass that day will be celebrated by Bishop Anthony M. Pilla, and
a reception will follow in the hall. There will not be a 12:30 p.m. Mass that
day.
