Special prayers too, of course, for the countless victims of Hurricane
Katrina, as well as others throughout the world suffering because of the
last tsunami, other natural disasters and Third World AIDS
epidemics. And let us not forget, on this anniversary Sunday, the victims of the
infamous September 11 tragedy.
Special collections are now being taken at our 11 o’clock Liturgies
to benefit Katrina’s victims. Checks may be made out to the Community of
St. Malachi with “Hurricane Relief” written on the memo line or on envelopes
containing cash. All contributions will be forwarded, through Catholic Charities
USA, to the areas of need for on-site relief and rebuilding efforts.
($2313 was collected here at St. Malachi for victims of the recent tsunami
tragedy. Fr. Tony reports that more than $4,000 was collected for Katrina
victims at CSM and parish Masses last Sunday.
These special collections will continue.)
Also, the Red Cross is here at St. Malachi Center this Sunday morning (Sept.
11) to accept blood donations!

DAY OF RECOLLECTION FOR ALL LITURGICAL MINISTERS
Message from Mike Petit and Cindy DiNardo:
‘We are inviting all liturgical ministers of the Community of St. Malachi
and St. Malachi Parish (lectors, servers, Eucharistic ministers, musicians,
planners, sacristans, ushers, hospitality, etc.) to a short afternoon of
reflection from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. (Says Mike: ‘Please note that this
probably conflicts with a zillion other events such as the Breast Cancer Walk.’)
The location is the River’s Edge (Founders’ Room), Sisters of St. Joseph,
3430 Rocky River Dr., Cleveland. Fr. Joe Fortuna, pastor of Ascension
Parish, will give a talk on liturgical spirituality. We will have an opportunity
to pray the Hours and personally reflect on the significance of our particular
ministries. If you are serving in any St. Malachi liturgical ministry, please
try to take this opportunity. This is the first time in recent years that we
have sponsored such an event. We would like to know how many people are coming
so we would appreciate an RSVP. The event is only a month away…Thanks!” Mike
Petit (440-884-9309 – michaelpetit@uhhs.com.
) or Cindy DiNardo (440-356-2980 –dinardoh@aol.com.
