Summer Clothing is Still Needed
The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.
(Genesis 3:21)
A Message from Jackie Bluett: “Even as the writer of Genesis had God
banishing Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden because of their sin, he shows
God’s compassion in clothing Adam and Eve. The clothing ministry is one of the
most basic and most utilized at St. Malachi Church. For those of you who donate
the clothes and for those who donate your time to sort the clothes, St. Malachi
Center is grateful.
“The Center is resuming the clothing ministry’s shopping day, for those
in need, on Saturday, Aug. 20. During August, September, October and November
the Center invites families to make appointments to shop donations on the third
Saturday of the month. At that time, each family receives several items of
clothing for each family member; the clothing is of the quality we would give
our own family members.
“We need summer clothing for our August shopping day, especially children’s
clothing, as school is starting soon. We need summer clothing, especially large
sized men’s, for the Friday morning distribution that goes on all year.
Because of limited storage space, we prefer to not take fall donations until
September. We can start taking heavier clothing in October and November. Again,
because of limited storage space, we can accept two to four bags per donor from
9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. For larger donations, we request you
call 216-771-3036 and ask me, Jackie Bluett, to help make other
arrangements. Thank you.”

Message from Eva Sierzputowski:
“Great Job! This expresses it all to the wonderful Community (and parish)
members that pulled off’ the ‘140th event’ (July 30) celebration at St.
Malachi in a great way! Thank you, and especially for all the Happy Birthdays
and Victory signs I received. Thank you very much.” – E.S.
Message from Dave Starre:
“With the home-grown produce coming to fruition in Community of St. Malachi
members’ backyard gardens, the St. Malachi Monday Night Meal can use any
excess tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini squash, carrots, onions, lettuce and all
other leafy green vegetables you wish to donate. Just bring them to the hall
kitchen before Sunday Mass, or after, and place them in the refrigerator. We
will use them all! God bless…” D.S.

DPC, and a formal response was sent to us. The questions and responses are now
available on the CSM Web Site. If anyone is interested in discussing these
responses, you are invited to the next task force meeting, at 7 p.m. Thursday,
Aug. 25, in the rectory. Hard copies of the DPC responses are available; call me

NEW LINK FOR VINE AND BRANCHES
The Vine and Branches page now features a new link to The Center for
Liturgy at St. Louis University. This link offers insight into Sunday’s
Scripture from a variety of perspectives. Below is a link to St. Malachi’s
Vine and Branches Gospel Discussion Forum. The forum allows CSM members and St.
Malachi parishioners to link to the readings for the upcoming Sunday’s Liturgy
of the Word and if so moved, to post a reflection. In addition to spiritual
preparation for Sunday’s Liturgy, the forum provides a format for deepening
our understanding of God’s Word and its impact in our lives through shared
reflection.
