ST. MALACHI ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Message from Becky McKenna:
“As you may know, 2005 marks the 140th anniversary of St. Malachi
Church and the 30th anniversary of the Community of St. Malachi. At the very
heart of our much-loved spiritual home is our staff, the dedicated people who
provide spiritual direction, head the outreach programs, support the day-to-day
business details, encourage and provide the Christian formation to the youngest
members of our community. They are the backbone of St. Malachi.
“As part of the 2005 anniversary celebration, a Staff
Appreciation Evening has been planned for 6-9 p.m. Saturday, July 30, in our
hall. There will be catering by Massimo’s, entertainment by a blue-grass band,
the St. Ignatius Circus Club, a one-woman skit, and more. Cost is $15 per
person. Please join in the celebration. Tickets are available after Mass and at
coffee hour. Details: see Fran DeChant or Arlene Corrigan, or call Sue
Brooks, 216-592-7339.” - B. M.

Zoe Lukens, |

| who both just graduated from Lakewood High School? Thanks!”
- T. A. Glad to, Teresa, with regrets at the oversight and thanks for calling
attention to it. - M.E. |
Message from Jackie Bluett: “’Do not neglect to
show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels
unawares.’ (Hebrews l3:2) - The first Old Angle Family Fun Festival is now
history. What a beautiful day! Because of a group of big-hearted people, St.
Malachi Center offered some old-fashioned hospitality to all who came to walk
the new Superior Viaduct park area last Saturday, July 2. While St. Malachi
Center hosted the event (applause goes to Cathy Saegel Graham and Veronica
Wessel, who organized the afternoon), it was all of the volunteers who made
each booth of food, games, activity and information a welcoming part of the
festival. There were volunteers from the neighborhood, from the houses and
hi-rises. There were Parish volunteers, CSM volunteers, St. Malachi Center staff
volunteers, friends of the staff volunteers, and St. Malachi Center Board of
Directors volunteers. The scenery was breathtaking These people were all in one
place, one sunny, though breezy afternoon, to share some fun with the Old Angle
neighborhood. A good time was had by all! The event reminded me of a mixed
bouquet of summer flowers – each flower beautiful on its own, but put all the
different flowers together and the bunch is stunning. Thank you, volunteers, for
a stunning afternoon!” - J.B.
