He underwent 5 months of intense drug therapy that successfully reduced the
bone marrow tumors allowing the healthy cells to reproduce again. Each month
Dave has blood work done at the Moll Cancer Center and sees his oncologist, Dr.
Tim Spiro, every three months. Since completing the initial treatment Dave
has felt good but each month the malignant bone marrow tumors continue to
produce an increasing number of abnormal plasma cells. Dr. Spiro told Dave at
his last visit that he is anemic again, so along with Thalidamide, which Dave
has taken for a year and a half, he will also need to take steroids. Dave
believes he is doing well because of prayers, good food and a positive attitude.
Both Dave and I are full of gratitude for all the support and prayers the people
of St. Malachi’s Community have given us. I believe Dave can be healed of this
disease even though no one thus far has overcome it. I believe that there is
tremendous power in the combined prayer of many so I am asking anyone who is so
inclined to pray for Dave every evening at 7 p.m. I chose that time because
it is Dave’s favorite number and I asked for prayer each evening because when
we forget we still have all the other evenings left. I ask that the prayer just
last a few seconds and that it be a feeling as if someone has just told you that
Dave’s cancer is gone. I love this form of prayer. I invite all of us to use
it to feel what it would feel like to live in a peaceful world – to feel how
it would feel to have those we love and know who are ill healed. That’s it –
what a great way to pray and it all begins within our hearts. We can use the 7
p.m. time each evening to engage our emotions and feelings for a few seconds. We
can pray for Dolly Chura, Mary Englert, Mary Laubenthal and
all the others who are healing – just a simple feeling based prayer – that’s
all and that’s enough. Thank you all for your magical prayers. Much Love,
Peace, and Joy, Barbara Starre.
