Celebrating Faith in God and in the Future!

26th Sunday in Ordinary Time

September 28, 2003

NEW! DIFFERENT! IMPORTANT!
TWO UPCOMING PROGRAMS…

(1) CSM OPEN FORUM

What’s on YOUR Mind?

SUNDAY, OCT. 19 Immediately following our 11 o’clock Liturgy

With the beginning of a new council year, the CSM Council “would like to hear from members about what is on their minds. This will be an opportunity to give voice to your concerns and interests.” It will be an opportunity, too, to listen to others who may share your concerns/interests…Chris Schenk, Gene Kramer and Cynthia Bender are heading the arrangements team. Hold the date! Plan to participate!

(2) CSM SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

(Chris Schenk, Nickie Stary, Dawn Stary, Stephanie Pritts)

The committee has selected Sr. Joan Chittister’s new book, “Scarred by Struggle: Transformed by Hope,” for a six-week, community-wide reflection, prayer and discussion series to begin Nov. 1.

NEEDED – Host Homes: if you are able to host a small group of CSM members once a week for six weeks, please contact Nickie Stary – 216-541-4310 or nickmstary@netscape.net Stephanie Pritts, 216-228-6272.

Please note which weeknight or weekend morning or afternoon you can make available. Of the book, Publisher’s Weekly writes: “Chittister uses the biblical story of Jacob wrestling with God to further illustrate the struggle that she says is part of every life, pointing out how such encounters can lead to growth and new direction. But even as she writes of the ‘gifts’ of struggle, she is candid about its dark side and lasting impact. After all, she notes, Jacob got up limping from his night of wrestling with God. It is clear from Chittister’s reflections that she has navigated the territory of which she writes. Her message should appeal to a diverse audience of readers who want more than platitudes and pat answers to life’s challenges.”

Adds Chris Schenk: “If you are interested in serving on the committee, please call Nickie Stary and we will welcome you to our monthly gatherings.”
