Celebrating Faith in God and in the Future!

Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

February 9, 2003

AN IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATE!

SUNDAY, MARCH 2
Following our 11 o’clock Liturgy there will be a special
COMMUNITY OF ST. MALACHI
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

At its Feb. 2 meeting, our CSM Council adopted a statement prepared by our Task Force on Sexual Abuse. All CSM members soon will receive copies by mail. Our March 2nd special meeting will provide members the opportunity to discuss-- then vote to endorse or reject -- our CSM response to the current crisis in our Church. The 12-member task force is headed by council member Kathy Burke, 216-228-6787. Also for info call Gene or JoAnn Kramer (216-228-7442) or Mary Englert (216-228-8417).

NEW CSM LEADERSHIP

As CSM Council President Mike Pellegrino explained in our Jan. 26 newsletter, family and professional obligations necessitated his resignation from the presidency, although not from the council membership. Consequently, Vice President Luis Gutierrez has succeeded him, effective with the conclusion of the Feb. 2 council meeting. At that meeting, the council named Cynthia Bender, current membership chair, to succeed Luis as vice president. Their terms will be in effect until leadership for the next council year is determined at the CSM annual general membership meeting in April. CSM thanks and best wishes to all three.

CSM Spiritual Development Committee presents St. Malachi Parish Member Jim Pelikan on “Community and Dialogue” 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18 - Pritts Home.

Says Miriam Robinson: “Every community has as part of its culture a style of communication. ‘Community Dialogue’ is a way to build community, reflect on our assumptions, and revitalize shared foundations.

*What does it mean to dialogue?

*Why do we come away from certain situations feeling energized and connected, and from others feeling drained and alienated?

*When is dialogue a means to build community?

Come and join the conversation with Jim Pelikan, who has helped build community dialogue:” To attend, please leave your name with Miriam Robinson, 440-234-0977.
