Petition Deadline Extended - Prescription Drug Fair Pricing Act

The extension allows us a couple more weeks to obtain signatures to get the act before the Ohio legislature.

This is a cooperative effort of the St. Malachi Task Force of the Universal Health Care Action Network (UHCAN)

“Faith Project in Cuyahoga County” as well as the Ohio Coalition for Affordable Prescription Drugs and the

St. Malachi Social Action Commission.

The 2.2 million Ohioans without prescription drug coverage need our support. The petitions will continue to be offered for signature here at St. Malachi today and next Sunday. Info: Mary Englert, 216-228-8417

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE SPONSORING TWO NEW GROUPS!

Message from Stephanie Pritts:
“On Oct. 27 a dozen people met at the Pritts home to begin praying the Psalms, with Carol Dlouhy facilitating. At the end of the evening, the group, organized by the CSM Spiritual Development Committee, decided to continue meeting and scheduled the next gathering for Dec. 1. In the meantime, three new people expressed interest in joining this group. The group met again and will continue to gather about once a month. Carol would like to see the group eventually lead itself. She believes that if it gets too large, it can divide into two groups, and so on. This means that new people are welcome to join on an ongoing basis. Some members have already volunteered to share their homes for meetings. The next will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. Jan. 12, at the home of Pat Burns, (W) 440-884-9300 or (H) 216-221-6727. Anyone interested now, or in the future, in praying in an informal group setting, please call Pat, or Stephanie Pritts, 216-228-6272. All are welcome.” - S.P.

“The Spiritual Development Committee of the Community of St. Malachi sends an open invitation to women to gather during 2003 on a monthly basis to read, study and pray around the book “May I Have this Dance?” by Joyce Rupp. The first meeting will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2003 at the home of Carol Kuegeler,   If you are interested in joining in this spiritual development opportunity, please call me, 440-871-0871.” - C.K.

Message from Sr. Rita Mary Harwood SND, diocesan Secretary for Parish Life and Development, addressed to St. Malachi Parish and Community: “Many thanks to you for your generous donation of literature and books to be used by the Diocesan Ministry to the Incarcerated at the Cleveland Justice Center. In giving out the reading material to the inmates, the DMI volunteers also have a chance to give much more - the knowledge of God’s love for each one of us and His mercy and compassion. Thank you for making this possible…” (Ed. Note: and God bless DMI volunteer Drew McAuliffe for giving us the opportunity.)
