CSM ‘WE GOT MAIL’ DEPARTMENT
From Mike Petit:
"I would like to form a discussion group to meet (once a month?) to discuss new ideas in world religions,
Christian theology, philosophy, etc. If you are interested, please contact me at 440-884-9309; e-mail at
jmichaelpetit@yahoo.com"
From Cathy Saegel:
"Thank you to the Community of St. Malachi for allowing St. Malachi Center to be an extension of your call to ministry. With your support, resources, time and talent this year’s ‘Soup for the Soul’ benefit raised $32,700. This goes against the trends other non-profits are experiencing in these difficult times. I credit this to the ownership and stewardship that the Community and Parish take in the Center and its ministry." – CS
From Bill McLaughlin:
"Special thanks to everyone: 630 eggs, 504 pork sausages and 30 pounds of pancakes were served by our smallest group of volunteers to one of our largest group of guests at the Palm Sunday Backdoor Ministry Brunch. I want to thank
everyone for their part in this effort. The brunch, served the last Sunday of each month, has become a well-known event in the neighborhood, one that people look forward to attending." – BM
From Mary Piar:
"All the tables are set with white tabelcloths and vases are filled with spring flowers, waiting and hoping that
all guests will arrive since the brunch was rescheduled. The volunteers got there between 6:30 and 7 a.m. to start doing their chores. The 500-plus link sausages are put on the big pastry tray, the pancake mix is being made and the griddles are getting hot to make 600 delicious pancakes. The steamer is put on for the seven trays of scrambled eggs. The volunteers all have a great time cracking the 52 dozen eggs to be shared and enjoyed by the 240-plus guests. This wonderful brunch, which also includes fruit cocktail, orange juice and coffee, has come to be called ‘St. Malachi’s Great Slam Breakfast.’
What a joy to be here and be a part of this great team. It is lovely to see a young couple with their infant son
come to volunteer their time. The father puts his son in a snugli on his chest to serve fruit cocktail, while his sweet wife pours coffee for the guests. What a fantastic and generous team we have to serve God’s people and, most of all, what joy we have just being here!" - MP
From Bonnie Mar, Malachi Mart
Manager:
"Ohio City’s Open Air in Market Square has been described as ‘a crowd that shows up each Saturday’ during Cleveland’s (supposedly) warm weather time of the year to experience our city’s only urban outdoor market. Open Air in Market Square (across the street from the West Side Market) plans to feature a mix of musical performance and the sale of art, craft, and retail products. Ah!!!
Retail. Bringing to mind our very own Malachi Mart discount store. Yes, the mart would like to be a part of the Market Square…
Market and make some of its bargains available to the greater community. Soooo…we need your help, as a VOLUNTEER who has a free Saturday or two, and is willing to transport some merchandise, set up a table, arrange a display, and sell goods. (And, on the flip side, pack up, clean up, and count the money afterwards.) It’s nicer to work as a team, so we hope that several willing, good people will be able to donate their time and skills to making this venture a good thing for
Malachi Mart, and have some fun doing it. If you are an organizer, perhaps you would like to coordinate and oversee
Malachi Mart’s participation in this open air market. We hope to reserve a space for our mart on five of the 15 available Saturdays between May 18 and Aug. 31. For further details, or to volunteer, call me at
Malachi Mart during store hours (10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat and 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sun) – 216-621-1988. Thanks, and I hope to hear from you soon." - BM
From Peter Toomey:
"Everybody loves Rogers and Hammerstein…including Strongsville Community Theatre, so they’re staging ‘Grand Night for Singing’ – Peter (he’s the one referring to himself in the second person) is one of the five guys and five gals filling the night with music you know and love in an official presenta- tion of the Richard Rogers Centennial. Strongsville High School Little Theatre, 20025 Lunn Road, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through April. Adults $10 – Students and seniors $8. Ticket info: 440-954-4634." - PT

CSM Treasurer Bill McLaughlin reminds us to please make checks payable to Community of St. Malachi.
Carol Lavelle backs him up on this. She sees checks in the office all the time from CSM members who evidently don’t realize that without the full community name, their money can’t be deposited to CSM accounts.
