MESSAGES FROM MEMBERS
(Always worth heeding…)

From Dave Starre:
"
The 18th annual Outdoor Liturgy at Starre’s Acres will be Saturday, Sept. 8, starting at 5 p.m. Fr. Jim O’Donnell will be the celebrant. Mark your calendars NOW! Details will follow." - D.S.

From Bill McLaughlin:
"Time is getting close. The roster will start being compiled the week of July 9, so if you wish to have your name included in it, please submit your recommitment form before that date - but preferably earlier." – B.M.

From Mary Carol Lucic:
"NEEDED – Teachers for the first and second grades of the CSM Christian Formation program. No experience necessary, but enthusiasm required. Training and a teacher’s manual will be provided. We meet from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. every other Sunday during the school year, in Urban Community School. If you can help, please call our Director of Religious Education, Karen Duffy, at 440-331-5289." – M.C.L.

And another from Mary Carol:
"One church, one book. The CSM Book Discussion Group is inviting members of both the Community of St. Malachi and St. Malachi Parish to read the same book. It’s a new idea for us. Encouraging everyone to read the same book conjures up a social phenomenon, a collective literary experience. The chosen book may be familiar to you as often quoted from the pulpit by Fr. Jim O’Donnell -The Holy Longing – A Search for Christian Spirituality by Ronald Rolheiser.

We hope for this to be as much a community-building project as it is a reading project. The idea is to use this book as a vehicle to talk about issues that affect our own spirituality as well as our church.

"Out tentative time frame is to have the book for sale during coffee hours in mid-July. In October we could hold some small-group discussions. Then, in November we could hold a large-group meeting, perhaps involving a meal. Never been in a book group discussion before? Fear not! We hope to stoke a communal fire around which friends can warm to a conversation about a work of literature. If you have questions or suggestions you may call Mary Carol Lucic (216-221-5017) or anyone else in the CSM Book Discussion Group."

(And by the way)
CSM Book Discussion Group – Next meeting, 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, home of Roseann Kaminsky (440-356-0259). Book: A Lesson Before Dying, by Ernest Gaines.

A Message from Mike Pellegrino and Carol Schiro: (About S.M.A.R.T. – St. Malachi Adults Raising Toddlers)

"Once again we are planning to enjoy summer movies at Lakewood Park on particular Friday evenings. The movies start at sundown, which at first means about 8:30 or 9 p.m., and gets earlier as the days get shorter again. Either way, we will meet at 6:30 p.m. on the far side of the park’s Kiwanis Pavilion for a picnic supper and playground fun, then wander over to the movies at sundown. Feel free to join in for one or both parts of the evening. If you come early for the picnic, bring your own meat to grill, drinks, picnic supplies and dishes to pass. It’s a low stress way to pick up where our Fish Fry fun leaves off. Here is the movie schedule: June 29: ‘The Goofy Movie’ – July 13: ‘Dinosaur - July 17: ‘Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’ – Aug. 10: ‘The Road to Eldorado.’ Hope to see you this summer!" - CS & MP (216-351-8553)

A Message from Jacqui Welker:
‘In celebration of the birth of our nation’s freedom, on July 4 Malachi Mart will be closed. Jacqui and Bonnie will be enjoying a verrrrry NICE looooong weekend. We will be back with smiley faces once again on the 5th. Thank you." - J.W.

Editor’s Goof Section:
Apologies to Marc Giguere for misspelling his name in our May 13 Newsletter. And then doing it again in our June 10 issue. Two different misspellings. Last name, not his first. At least we got that right. And he was downright nice about it. Also, in calling attention to a Communio article about our Apr. 22 annual meeting’s vote in support of women priests and a married clergy, I described it as "unanimous." Not so. There was one abstention. Just one. -- Mary Englert
