An Editorial:
If you were among the more than 200 who enjoyed our CSM Silver Anniversary picnic
at Lakewood Park last Sunday, you’ll likely agree that those who missed it, really missed out. It was two, three and even four generations sharing community fun at its best. Shared food, shared games, shared music, shared dancing (some doing, others viewing), shared jokes (some good, others notso), and both indoor and outdoor activity (as much or as little as you chose). In short, love and laughter all over the place.
Rosemarie DeJohn, Bill McLaughlin and their many lieutenants pulled off a heart-warming social coup. How they managed that weather, one dare not ask. But one question was asked enthusiastically and repeatedly throughout the afternoon. "Why don’t we do this every year?" (So, let’s all start being extra nice to this year’s picnic arrangers!) -
Mary Englert
A Related Message from, Kay Vine, instigator of the CSM Silver Anniversary Frisbee Flings.
At the April 30 Anniversary Dinner she flung 20 commemorative green frisbees to recognize those "whose
hard work had produced the rewards of community celebrations. " At last Sunday’s picnic she was at it
again, "to recognize and thank those who’ve given a special
(work with teens and their performance at the Anniversary Dinner), Marie James and Dolores Bastaich (Murder Mysteries Parties), Marguerite O’Donnell (Health Fair/Community Outreach) and a second frisbee to
Rosemarie DeJohn heading up the CSM picnic event." Kay adds: "Frisbees were also
used as prizes for many of the children, youth and adult games at the picnic. One also was given to Dolores
and Al Sullin for always being there and helping out; and to the Simoneau family for being the largest family
in attendance at the Apr. 30 Liturgy and dinner." (Editorial Comment: What about
Kay Vine,
herself? Where on earth would one find a frisbee big enough or swift enough ? Only in heaven! –
ME)

A Message from Bill McLaughlin, our new CSM treasurer:
"The CSM is in need of a volunteer bookkeeper.
Need a person who is familiar with EXCEL – very straight forward, nothing difficult – and has about two hours
around the 10th to 15th of each month to record the data necessary for our financial
records. I will train and work with the individual. If interested, please
email finance@catholic.org"
A Message from Helen Brinich:
"I heartily thank the members of the St. Malachi Community for the good wishes, cards and
prayers which have been such a help to me during my recovery from my recent accident. I know with certainty
that your prayers sustained my spirits and imbued me with the patience I needed during a difficult period
of my life. God bless you as you have blessed me."
