The Community of St. Malachi – First Personal Parish of the Diocese of Cleveland

Celebrating 25 Years of Faith in God and in the Future!

SOME MESSAGES – THE TIMELY ’N IMPORTANT KIND!

"It is both a privilege and an honor to be selected to serve as president of the CSM Community Council this year. I have a great love for this community, which has been my spiritual home for more than 20 years.

"During the April celebration of our 25th Anniversary, Fr. Paul Hritz read the scripture from Acts which described the life of the early Christian community:

"’These remained faithful to the teaching of the apostles, to the brother-and-sisterhood, to the breaking of bread and to the prayers. The many miracles and signs worked through the apostles made a deep impression on everyone.

‘The faithful all lived together and owned everything in common; they sold their goods and possessions and shared out the proceeds among themselves according to what each one needed.

‘They went as a body to the Temple every day but met in their houses for the breaking of the bread; they shared their food gladly and generously; they praised God and were looked up to by everyone. Day by day the Lord added to their community those destined to be saved. (Acts 2:42-47)’

"This passage offers a vision of what we can become. Please join me in September as we expand our Appreciative Inquiry, ‘St. Malachi Looks to the Future! Rejoice and Renew,’ a planning process designed to build on our strengths. A ‘town hall’ style meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, in the hall, to solicit the input of as many CSM members as possible. Please mark your calendar so that we can together plan our next 25 years." -- Gary Pritts

and Let’s Welcome to the Scene: MARY JANE TREICHEL

She joined the St. Malachi Parish staff July 1 as a pastoral associate. A certified pastoral minister and resident of Lakewood, Mary Jane has served St. Patrick (Bridge) in this capacity for some time now, and will continue there, dividing her 40 hours a week equally between the two parishes.

Fr. Tony Schuerger, as pastor of both St. Malachi Parish and the Community of St. Malachi, joins with CSM President Gary Pritts to announce that, although she is employed by the parish, Mary Jane will be willing and free to assist CSM members as well with any needs for which she is certified, including pastoral counseling, annulment petitions, spiritual direction, and the like.

You can call or leave a message for her at our rectory (216-781-3110) or at St. Pat’s (216-631-6872).

A Message from Ilse:

"It’s time once again to say ‘Thank You!’ with a grateful heart to the Community of St. Malachi for all the prayers offered up for Herman, all the cards and support and visits during his long hospitalization. With particular thanks to all of Herman’s Angels, who drove him to dialysis, and to Fr. Tony and Fr. Jim, who prayed with him, anointed him, and blessed and buried him. My heart is filled with deep gratitude for my sisters and brothers in Christ who lovingly supported me during this difficult time. I will continue to cling to this ‘joy lifeline’ on my walk with Jesus, and pray for his blessings on all of you. Thank you!" - Ilse Strnisha

(For a change, life produced a happy little note for Ilse this past weekend. Her daughter, Liz Strnisha Vehar, posted third place in the Women’s Triathlon Sprint and was listed among the international event’s overall "Top Finishers." They’re convinced it was with Herman’s help. Congratulations to them all…)
